First off, I would like to THANK each and every one of you for being part of my journey - whether as a past (or future?) client, a supporter, or one of my many ‘cheerleaders’!!
In case you hadn’t figured it out, I absolutely love what I am doing, whether it is helping you:
making sure your Destination Wedding (or Vow Renewal, or Anniversary) is the most spectacular day (and trip!) ever
When I graduated from the college program in 2008 to become a Travel Counsellor (or Travel Agent as it is better known!), I finally became what I had long known I wanted to be when I grew up, haha. And as in everything I had undertaken in the past - if I was going to do something, I was going to do it well...
As part of my on-going learning, I have travelled to upwards of 200 resorts in most tourist areas of Mexico, Jamaica and Punta Cana - either on familiarization tours offered by suppliers and tour operators, or travelling to the areas on my own and setting up ‘self fams’ while I am there.
touring the resort;
meeting with the on-site wedding planners, managers and sales staff;
checking out the restaurants;
doing ‘beverage quality control’;
seeing as many room categories as I am able
All to help you better when it comes time to make your decision! Over the years, I have developed a good working rapport with suppliers, Business Development Managers, and resorts - and in some cases this has turned into deep friendships with some of them!
I have also, in the past 2 1/2 years, been expanding my knowledge base into cruising and river cruising - for just you as a couple, for a small group of you, or for a large group! Watch for some exciting groups being added! I have made a vow to experience as many of the cruise lines as I can - focussing on those I actually will sell... I will leave it at that.
I also am not too proud to refer you on to a more knowledgeable agent if you ask about something that I’m not that familiar with. I would rather refer you on to someone who will help make your dream come true than ruin your trip by pretending that I know all about it!!
It doesn’t stop when the perfect location is found for your wedding or your group. I then work to get the best value for you – sometimes working with up to 5 different suppliers for 1 resort. Looking after the organization and financial details comes next - do you really want to look after collecting deposits and final payments from friends and family? Or finding out the answers to their numerous travel questions?
No?? Didn’t think so!
I am also happy to offer additional packages for your Destination Wedding. From checklists, to being your liaison for the wedding details and forms, to ‘day of wedding’ timeline, to being your 'assistant' on the wedding day - a representative can accompany you on your trip to assist you with anything you may need, or problems that may arise, up until the wedding itself. After having traveled as ‘mother of the bride’, guest and/or travel agent, I am aware of some of the ‘behind the scenes’ glitches that can happen!
As well, I can also travel with your group if you wish - for many of the same reasons!
I was a charter member (one of the first to join) of the Destination Weddings and Honeymoon Specialist Association, was on their marketing committee and am still a member of the Advisory Board. I was also the first in Canada (and among the first North America wide) to receive the title of Romance Travel Master Specialist after a gruelling several week long course - NOT just a 30 minute webinar ‘specialist course’!! But I still listen to webinars and go to conferences every chance I get - never quit learning!!
Destination Weddings and Customized Groups are my specialty - but 'general travel' is also available!!
