It was a fun afternoon with my guests who won the bid from a silent auction fundraiser for the Osoyoos Rotary Club.
I'm so grateful for my community that I'm more than happy to donate my time to support local organizations that support the South Okanagan.
It all comes full circle.

Last Sunday at Intersection Estate Winery Mel and Tony put on a vertical tasting of the appassimento and Ripasso from 2013, 2014, 2015, and the still in barrel 2020 vintages.
It was quite fascinating to see the differences between each vintage. My favorite was the stuff still in barrel.
It's a lot more fun than watching the superbowl if you ask me 🍷

Open year-round for wine tours and shuttle service. My guests love the focus and attention they get during the low season. There was lots of selection of wines to try at each winery as well. This is definitely the year with such favorable weather to come and explore the Okanagan Valley.

Great picnic with some amazing people this weekend. I sourced most of the products from two local businesses.
has a gorgeous selection of cheeses all made in Canada and other quality products such as smoked artichoke spread, olives, jellies, and jams, and they do an incredible charcuterie board to enjoy at the winery.
is another great place I source things like olives, chips, preserves and jellies. I'm so greatful for the vast selection they offer of global foods and local products.
Another local shop to source cured meats and cheeses is they are now supplying cheese and cured meats and pate.
Now more than ever, it is important to support local independent businesses.

I have been a little quiet on social media because we recently got back from a trip to Spain. I had the pleasure of visiting a historical sight in Logrono, a 500 year old cellar. It was so fascinating to see what the differences and similarities are at wineries in Rioja Spain compared to the Okanagan Valley. I'm happy to report there are a lot of incredible things happening in our valley, and the vast selection alone makes me very proud of what all the farmers and proprietors have established here at home. One thing I really enjoyed touring around the wineries in Rioja was that they would offer food to go with the tasting, and that elevated the experience so much more. The experiences I had will help me evolve what I do with my business, so stay tuned. I will be offering a new enhanced experience next season.

Today's tour for my lovely guests on a stay cation from Kelowna started at Laughingstock Vineyard for a private tasting on their patio. Next was another premium experience at Little Engine Wines on their gorgeous patio overlooking Okanagan Lake and vineyards. After that, it was time for lunch at Poplar Grove Restaurant. The next stop was Roche Winery, where they enjoyed a barrel room tasting. Finally, Serendipity Winery where they met the owner, Judy and Winemaker Katie, and had a VIP tasting in the barrel room. Katie paired each wine with different foods to show how things can be complimentary or the opposite and let the guests play around with different pairings. My guests were thrilled to take home some recipes and try the wine and food pairings for themselves.

I've spotted some very rare to the Okanagan varietals. Teroldego is a grape varietal from North Eastern Italy.
Lagrein is a grape varietal from Norther Italy and is related to pinot noir and syrah.
Refosco is also an Italian grape varietal from the Venetian zone.

Lovely tasting for my guests at Lakeboat Winery. I love their initiative of supporting women winemakers by donating tasting fees to Les Dames D'escoffier and their scholarships foundation.

The picnic area at Gehringer Brothers Winery is a great undercover space, and the views are priceless. They have one of my favorite sauvignon blanc.

One of the best parts of wine tasting is hearing the stories of all the different vineyards in the area. Learning about the growing season. How it impacted the vines, the fruit production, and all the obstacles the vineyard managers had to overcome. It makes the wine that more special when you get to visit its place of origin ❤️🍇🍷

My tour from the weekend was all about wine and food. I didn't take many photos because I was too busy having a fun time with my guests from Colorado. We started at Bartier Bros Winery, where they had a self guided tasting paired with different cheeses. Next was Red Barn Winery, where they enjoyed pizza and panini paired perfectly with the sauvignon blanc and chardonnay blend. Fairview Cellars was the perfect stop to sample bold reds with some cured meats and cheese. Finally, Vin Amite was the perfect end to have some red blends paired with chocolate. Beautiful spring like day on the Naramata Bench.
Reflecting on vintage 2023. It was a very low yield year for grapes in general, but it seems like some areas were hit harder than others. There has already been a lot of replanting of vines, and there will be even more next year. Some grape growers have chosen to plant different varietals that may be better suited to that particular growing site, and some may replant the same thing and hope for the best. The thing to remember is that wine is created from farming and every year tells a story, and that's why wine is so interesting. Here's to a year with a big story 🥂
It's the best time to explore wine country! My guests have been so impressed with the time and attention they have been receiving from proprietors and wine makers. The weather is an ideal temperature for sipping on bold reds and the richer white wines. It's a great time to go hiking and take photos of all the fall colours in the region. Another beautiful summer day in wine country. Today's tour was a lot of fun. The day started @platinum.bench for a bread and wine pairing. Then off to @burrowingowlwinery for a tasting and look at the views above the restaurant. Next was @frenchdoorwinery for a quick splash on the patio. Then we made a couple extra stops @heresthethingvineyards for a lovely tasting with Sue as well as well as @goxwine with the fabulous Tony. That filled up our extra time. We finished @hestercreek1968 where they loved the syrah. What a fabulous day with incredible company. I love showing off this magical place I get to call home 🥂
