"In this day and age with the amount of precarious work out there, people deserve a good wage, people deserve to be able to raise their family in this community. And they should not have to put up with the kind of harassment that they’ve suffered on this picket line. We’re going to stay here – one day stronger, one day longer."

‼️🚫 York University refuses to address the affordability crisis caused by rising housing and food prices at the same time that wages on campus have stagnated. More and more, academic staff are living further from campus and being forced to work other jobs to make ends meet.

There are only FOUR days left before a strike deadline for members of OCEU CUPE 1750. Job action, is set to begin 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday.
While the WSIB gave $1.5 billion to corporations last year in rebates and has premiums at a 20-year low, the number of claims that take more than a year to resolve has tripled in the last decade. Long wait times, delayed payments, lengthy appeals processes, significant turnover in case managers – these are all symptoms of the WSIB leadership’s refusal to invest in workers and services.
These workers are fighting to improve workloads. They’re fighting to make sure they have the staff and the time to treat all cases with the diligence they deserve. And they’re fighting for fair compensation that keeps up with inflation.
