I shall trumpet and reiterate: a passport is all we need to travel freely! Easy peasy. Don't fall for any digital ID system - that's just a cover for tracking and surveillance🙁

Food is often last on the list when Doctors and patients try to improve health (pharmaceuticals are the go to) yet, lifestyle and diet, when finally given the chance...end up offering the most profound and sustainable outcomes. Make it your first choice😊

Food is the biggest contributor, globally, to chronic disease and death.⠀

The Lancet recently published a study where researchers analyzed the diets of people in 195 countries. ⠀

What it found was that poor diets raised the risk of death from diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and other diet related chronic illnesses. ⠀

It also calculated the number of deaths related to other risk factors such as smoking and found that diet was the leading risk factor. ⠀

It’s now known that the countries whose diet included more vegetables, fruits, nuts, and healthy oils were the countries with the lowest diet related deaths.⠀

We know that sugar is bad and people eat 10 times as much sugar as is recommended; we know that nuts are good, and prevent disease, and people eat only 12 percent of the recommended amount of nuts; so, we’re eating way too much of the bad stuff, and hardly enough of the good stuff.⠀

Yes, the evidence is there...glyphosate is a HUGE problem for the planet's and human health. To understand it's deleterious effects means to understand Terrain Theory (the role our microbiome plays in our immune health) as opposed to the antiquated germ theory. If this Dr follows a healthy lifestyle and diet and still has glyphosate levels up in the 50% range...imagine what levels the rest of us probably have. It is one of the root causes of disease, diminishes our microbiomes (found throughout our bodies) thus, weakening our immune systems and ultimately shedding light on pandemics of health.

The evidence against the use of glyphosate keeps mounting, yet it’s still legally drenching our food supply. I try to be as good as I can about eating organic, high-quality food, and my glyphosate test revealed I was still in the 50th percentile. Studies have linked glyphosate to cancer, endocrine disruption, infertility, immune dysfunction, liver and kidney damage, and disruption of the microbiome. And not only is glyphosate harming human health and the health of our future generations, it’s also destroying our ecosystems.⁣

I dove into all-things glyphosate with Stephanie Seneff on a recent episode of The Doctor’s Farmacy. You can find the episode titled, "The Harmful Effects of Weedkiller (Glyphosate) On Our Health And Our Future," on your favorite podcast app.

The stats he quotes are quite alarming!

Poor diet is responsible for almost 700,000 deaths in the US each year, and 11 million worldwide! And the average American consumes 55 pounds of added sugar each year, which we know is a major contributor towards the diabesity epidemic. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The good news is that each step towards real, wholesome, delicious foods reduces your risk for chronic disease and increases your ability to feel great.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We are just beginning to understand how food influences our cells, tissues, organs, moods, thoughts, feelings, and the structure of our bodies, but what scientists have discovered over the last few decades is astonishing. Food is not only a source of energy, joy, connection, and pleasure; it can also rejuvenate us and even reverse disease. When we think of food, we think of protein, carbohydrates, fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But the most important parts of food may be the tens of thousands of medicinal compounds embedded in plants and even animal foods that regulate, modulate, and influence nearly all of the 37 billion billion chemical reactions that occur in our bodies every second. I call this process symbiotic‐phytoadaptation. It means our bodies use chemicals found in food to beneficially influence each of our biological systems. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Every time you take a bite of food, consider that you are programming your biology for health or disease. When you eat healthy food, you are, in fact, eating medicine. ⁣⁣

Almonte, Ontario! A secret little gem; central to the area of Mississippi Mills - Ottawa’s next door neighbor. Kravis Travel visited, and we have to say…where have you been hiding? From the canoeists and kayakers launching into the river right from the middle of town to the charming town center itself, we were so pleasantly surprised.

Almonte offers choices unique to the Ottawa area (approximately 45 minutes west of Ottawa); everything from heritage architecture seen throughout it’s gentle hill and curved streetscape, a Riverwalk along the shore of the Mississippi River past two waterfalls, unique artisanal stores, fine restaurants, fragrant coffee shops and bakeries, a craft beer brewery and a vintage/antique haven to leisurely peruse for a couple of hours. And that’s not all! L.G. Lee and Sons is Canada’s smallest and most charming outlet for Lee Valley Tools and Vamos Outdoors offers rugged but fashionable outdoor wear found nowhere else in the Ottawa Valley.

Mississippi Mills is known as an arts-centre for artists of all kinds, including potters, textile artists (visit the textile museum), painters, sketch artists, and more. In Almonte you’ll find multiple art galleries or studio galleries as fine as you’ll find in any urban centre.

Almonte and its surrounding areas make for a traditional road trip, with miles of scenic country roads. The Mill of Kintail Conservation Area makes it a popular destination for hikers, nature lovers and history buffs. In the old mill located there, you’ll find information about the lives of Dr. James Naismith, the Canadian inventor of basketball, and R. Tait Mackenzie, a world-renowned sculptor.

15 minutes north up Hwy 29 is the village of Pakenham boasting two of the seven wonders of Lanark County; the imposing five-span stone bridge and the elegant St. Peter Celestine Church. The eighth wonder would surely be Pakenham’s General Store! In business for nearly 180 years, it is the longest continuously operating general store in Canada, and is famous for its sticky buns. Around the corner, Scoops is a seasonal must-stop for ice-cream lovers, and Penny’s Fudge Factory will satisfy any sweet tooth. Mississippi Mills is also the gateway to Lanark County, the maple syrup capital of Ontario, so including a stop at Fulton’s Pancake house in rural Pakenham is a must! In Winter, Mount Pakenham Ski Resort offers ski, board and snowshoeing for some fun in the snow.

The day we visited Almonte, the weather was warm and the sun was shining…it was such a relaxing walkabout combining both urban and nature that it has endeared itself as one of Kravis Travel’s top Ontario locales.

But cook whole, real food...

When we cook, we rebuild our communities, strengthen the bonds within our families, and nourish our bodies and souls. ⁣

Cooking is also fun! ⁣

Remember, it’s typically not the salt, sugar, or other ingredients that you add to your home-cooked meals that pose a problem. It’s the salt, sugar, bad fats, and unpronounceable toxic ingredients that food companies add to their foods that damage your health. ⁣

Cooking is your way out of sickness, and your path to freedom from processed food and toward vibrant health and a happier life.⁣

We have been trained to think that cooking is a burden, drudgery and time-consuming. Yet it is one of the most essential acts that make us human. ⁣

What will you cook this week?⁣

You can learn basic cooking skills, how to stock your pantry, and find nutritious recipes in my new cook, The Pegan Diet. You can learn more at PeganDiet.com⁣
