Eggplantr was created as a result of its founder's struggles while trying to establish his own outdoor food garden for the first time. His internship at a sustainable agriculture not-for-profit-organization allowed him the opportunity to research plant relationships (companion planting), natural pest management, permaculture, and maintenance strategies for a full month before beginning his garden.
Despite all this research, he ran into a variety of problems that nearly ruined his harvest. Quickly, he realized that permaculture and companion planting are the ideal natural solutions for many gardening problems. These principles ensure mindless pest management, increased garden yield, and complete low maintenance gardening. However, permaculture and companion planting was not something he could fully learn even after four months of research and trial and error. Recognizing that most busy, hard working individuals don't have time for months of research and garden planning, Eggplantr was developed as a tool for helping time-strapped gardeners grow food with minimal research, planning, and maintenance requirements. Once its tools are released to the public, Eggplantr will ensure that household food production is an efficient, productive, mainstream, sustainable, and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
