Vancouver Island North GILAKAS’LA. Sharing stories of the people and the places of the Vancouver Island North region with visitors past, present and future.

Vancouver Island North communities are located on the traditional territory of the Kwakwakaʼwakw people, who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial. The North Island exerts a magnetic pull. Where the air is crisp and the water is crystal clear. This is a place where nature is untamed. Our forests are where wild things roam and the ocean here is alive with magnificent creatures. The

people are down-to-earth and rooted in a sense of place, this place, where you can find yourself while getting lost in nature. The Vancouver Island North region begins in the heart of the Nimpkish Valley, near Mount Cain, just south of the community of Woss, and continues north to Cape Scott Provincial Park at the windswept northern tip of Vancouver Island. The region also extends across Queen Charlotte and Johnstone Straits to a section of the mainland coast which includes a swath of the Great Bear Rainforest.

The overwhelming demand for the Telegraph Project beer is a testament to the deep connection people have with Telegraph Cove and the North Island. 🍻❤️

The Longwood Brewery team is working hard to produce more of this fundraising beer. Keep an eye on their social pages for an update later this week on where you can find The Project Pale Ale in both hospitality and retail locations.

A heartfelt thank you from Telegraph Cove Resort & Campground, The Whale Interpretive Centre and Longwood Brewery on Boxwood Road❤️🍻

We are deeply moved by the tremendous support for the Telegraph Project. Over the past few weeks, we’ve been touched by countless stories of visits and meaningful connections to the Telegraph Cove community and the North Island. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work diligently to produce more Telegraph Project beer to meet the overwhelming response and orders.
What began as a small idea has blossomed into an incredible community-driven initiative and we are truly grateful.
We extend our special thanks to Topp's Hops, our BC hop supplier, for generously donating $1 per pound of hops used in the Telegraph Project.
We will be updating our social media later this week with a list of hospitality and retail stores that will be receiving “The Project.” Thank you again for your support.
Warm regards,
Tracy, Harley and the Longwood Crew

The Broughton Archipelago Marine Provincial Park is one of the most spectacular sea kayaking regions in the world.

This unique network of islands and islets offers endless paddling opportunities through sheltered waterways and rugged coastlines. At its southern edge, Johnstone Strait serves as a migration corridor for Pacific salmon, drawing Northern Resident orcas, humpback whales, Dall’s porpoises, and Pacific white-sided dolphins each summer.

For over 20 years, Mothership Adventures has led sea kayaking expeditions through these waters aboard the historic Columbia III, offering a rare experience of kayaking by day and returning to the timeless comforts of life aboard a historic wooden ship each night.
