Facilitated by Mi'kmaw visual artist and curator, Aiden Gillis, the TALK International is all about time through an Indigenous perspective. Indigenous artists from Nations across the globe discussed how the concept of time and global changes in the natural cycles of time inform and affect their work, creativity, and artistic practices.

ALTAR is a play about Eugenio, a queer young immigrant who recently moved from Mexico to St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, and is going through deep heartbreak after he is inexplicably "ghosted" by his new boyfriend. No, his boyfriend isn’t dead; he just stopped calling and texting. Looking to the holiday Día de Muertos and his father’s previous experience with paranormal activities, Eugenio decides to build an altar in the hopes that he will be able to summon his boyfriend’s "ghost" to sort out the end of their relationship once and for all.
Prismatic 2022 performances of ALTAR will feature ASL interpretation by Robert Azevedo, who has worked closely with the ALTAR team to create high quality, integrated interpretation of the play.

Featuring Son Latino, Jacques Mindreau, Rebecca Thomas, and Illest Omen!
Settle in, get cozy, and join us on Youtube or Facebook Live :)
Meet the artists:
Rebecca Thomas is an award-winning Mi’kmaw writer and Halifax's former Poet Laureate. She is the author of the children’s books I’m Finding My Talk and Swift Fox All Along as well as an adult collection of poetry, I place you into the fire.
Jacques Mindreau is a violinist, vocalist, and composer who creates music for film, dance, and theatre. His solo project, Electro Jacques Therapy, combines string loops, classically influenced vocals, and a haunting violin.
Illest Omen is an R&B jazz collective based in Kjipuktuk / Halifax with a heavy hip-hop groove and tons of soul, comprised of Dilshan Weerasinghe on guitar, Nathan Simmons on bass, Nicolae Orengo on drums, Behrooz Mihankhah on keys, and Aaron Klein on trumpet.
Featuring dynamic musicians from Cuba, Colombia, Mexico, and Canada, Son Latino puts a unique cross-cultural spin on Latin American music. The band’s repertoire is a mix of traditional and contemporary tunes from all over Latin America, and includes compulsively danceable rhythms like salsa, merengue, bachata, cha cha, and more. With driving rhythms, tight vocals, and improvisational flair, Son Latino makes it almost impossible for audiences to sit still!
