Juneau, Alaska was our first stop on the Ruby Princess. The weather was ideal, and it was a great start to our journey through this beautiful state. It was my second time visiting Alaska, and each time I experience something different. Two years ago, we went up the tram, and there was still 10 feet of snow. That was not the case today.

Monkeys , Sloths and Macaws at the local Eco Center. These were all rescues at one time and all funds raised go to Honduras conservation efforts. I did not go in the monkey enclosure but the people who did seemed to enjoy the monkeys jumping on their heads and searching their pockets for goodies. Sloths really are that cute and they just cuddle right in. Off to our boat adventure and island beach for lunch. (We had to remove sunglasses and hats as the monkeys like to take them! )

The last couple of days have been wonderful. We did a snorkel and beach day in Cozumel and the weather was perfect. Some of the best sunsets are viewed from the observation deck and the main dining room - Hudson’s. Of course the staff and bartenders are entertaining on their own. Can’t wait for my group to join me tomorrow for another 7 days aboard this amazing ship.

First time trying virtual reality at the Galaxy Pavilion onboard the Prima…from Epic Roller Coasters to shooting zombies and werewolves, we did it all. I had a great time but I am ready for some steady ground now.

On the NCL Prima sailing from Galveston. Spent the first few days discovering our ship. There is a 3 level speedway and we raced in groups of 5. Surprised everyone,including me, when I had the fastest lap and overall best score! Pretty good for a rookie. Also enjoyed a fun game of mini golf. So much to do on the ship. The rainy weather ended when we got to Costa Maya Mexico. Then today it was Harvest Caye, Belize. It feels great to be back onboard Norwegian Cruise line for another 10 days!

Well it is our last day in Japan. Our flight doesn’t leave until 955pm so we did one last tour. We went to a Shinto(native Japanese religion) Shrine and a Buddhist Temple. They were both located in down town Tokyo.

We had our first taste of the crowds in Tokyo which we haven’t experienced much in the rest of Japan. It started with an hour long traffic jam to cross the bridge and get out of the port.

It has been an fun filled but exhausting two weeks as we crammed in as much as we possibly could. The fond memories of Japan and the warm and kind people here will remain with me forever.

The last couple of days have been busy for us as we visited the ports of Kochi and Kobe. In Kochi we went to a beach in the morning and climbed up to one of the oldest castles in Japan. Most were destroyed in the war or previous catastrophic earthquakes.

In Kobe we found one of the largest Chinatowns and sampled some of the food. It was a refreshing change from all the history and we had a great time just looking in all the shops.

Tomorrow is a excursion in Tokyo and then home!

The port of Aburatsu. Today we ventured out to the countryside and had an amazing day. We visited the Shouchu Distillery which produces Sochi, a popular drink in Japan similar to Saki, and the Aoshima Shrine which was rebuilt in 1503. This brightly coloured shrine is thought to bring good luck to couples in love🥰.

Today was a very emotional day. We visited the Hiroshima World Peace Memorial Park. The park was opened in 1955 and has evolved over the years to contain 63 commemorative exhibits.

The museum hall (at the end of the photos) shows the realities of atomic bomb damage, Hiroshima‘s history before, and after the bombing etc. It houses a collection of atomic bomb memoirs, photographs of victims and their personal stories.

The intent is to convey the experience of atomic bombing to future generations and to call for world peace. I did not photograph inside the museum and is it safe to say that it really brings home the human face to war in a very graphic and heartbreaking way.

This morning we arrived in Busan, South Korea. It is a huge, high density city and one of the worlds largest industrial ports. 70% of the land is montains therefore there are only a few single dwelling houses with the majority of Koreans living in high rise apartments. 40% of Koreans will never own their own home due to the high cost of living.

Our first stop was the Bokcheon Museum built on the home of 191 Ancient Tombs where over 12000 artifacts were excavated halting all urban development.
It was extremely interesting to see how the tombs and wooden coffins were constructed. Although no human remains were found in the tombs, there were signs of human sacrifice.

This is Kanazawa. It was a beautiful warm and sunny 😎 day for us to explore this city. We started with the Kenrokuen Garden located just outside the Castle Park gates. This garden has been designated as one of the three most beautiful in Japan. The pictures don’t do it justice.

From there, we went to the Geisha District. There are still 5 working Geisha houses and 26 Geishas in this area. They entertain on the 2nd story of these original homes who now have owners living on the main floors. They sing, dance and play music as they serve the tea or meal. The ‘real’ geishas only take regular customers although may make a rare exception and allow a tourist to visit.

Our last stop of the day was the The Ancient Site of a Samurai House. The houses, gates and interior gardens are preserved by the Society for the Preservation of Nomura Familyso we can appreciate the cultural heritage of Japan here in Kanazawa.

We enjoyed another send off as we pulled away from port.
