The itinerary has been set up to offer the best winter experiences available on the Powder Highway; from transportation, accommodation and dining, to skills coaching, guided off-piste backcountry skiing and a host of fantastic mountain experiences.
Overview
This trip will appeal to all ski enthusiasts but especially to those looking for powder skiing, skills coaching, backcountry adventures and some ‘mountain learning’ experiences such as remote camping and basic avalanche safety education.
The trip is suited equally to those looking to get away from resort areas for the first time and gain backcountry experience, as well as those who have already spent some time in a backcountry mountain environment and who are looking to build on their skills, experience and knowledge.
Transport, Accommodation & Food
The trip arrival point is at Calgary International Airport where you will be met by your Snoworks instructor and the ‘Storm Chaser’ crew.
Transportation for the trip is provided in the Storm Chaser vehicle, a rock star style coach, fully fitted out with lounge and dining area, TV area, bathroom, and kitchen, designed to carry you in comfort and style.
Accommodation for the trip has been arranged in all of the ski areas we will be visiting, to offer good quality, hotel or on-mountain house accommodation, with clients sharing twin rooms.
Breakfast and lunch is included throughout your stay, and there are snacks, appetisers and drinks on the Storm Chasers vehicle when travelling. There are also 2/3 (based on itinerary chosen) evening dinners included in the trip price.
The Skiing
Each day will see you heading out into backcountry off-piste terrain, led by Scott Belton, your ACMG Guide and your Snoworks instructor. Utilising a combination of ski resort lift access and ski touring you’ll seek out the very best snow in the very best possible terrain available.
Snoworks will be on hand at every step of the way to hone your powder skiing and technical skills, ensuring you get the most out of your snow riding experiences on the trip.
ACMG Guide Scott will be looking to give you as much information about safety, terrain and ever changing conditions as possible. His experience will give you invaluable insight into decision making in off-piste terrain, including terrain management and route finding as well as snow pack assessment.
The trip has been structured to include an Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 Certificate programme, spread out throughout your stay.
A day of cat skiing is included in the trip, where you will be able to enjoy the benefits of a ‘piste basher taxi ride’ to the top, combined with some fantastic skiing.
Also included is a ‘heli bump’ into backcountry terrain, where you will fly to high elevation in the morning allowing you to spend the day skiing down to your pick up point.
A trip highlight will be an overnight stay in a snowmobile accessed remote backcountry camp area.
