🖐️Top Five Feature: Tips for Bridges

One of the foundational skills in our syllabus is the bridge.

The importance of the proficiency of the bridge should be imparted to students who partake in examinations but who also want to achieve high-level skills in the syllabus.

Here are a few tips for your classroom:

1️⃣ Entrances and Exits
Ensure students are performing the entrance and exit from the bridge. Properly setting up the skill affects the success of the skill itself.

2️⃣ Pushing Up
Acrobatic Arts suggests students push up into bridges instead of circling into the bridge, especially for dancers in levels 1, 2 and 3.

Pushing up to this skill develops strength and control and works both sides of the body equally.

3️⃣ Head off the Floor
When students are lowering out of the bridge, have them tuck their chin and lower down with control to their shoulders.

Avoid having students put their heads on the floor to push up or lower down from a bridge.

4️⃣ Efficient Ex*****on
Entrances and exits of all bridge skills should be efficient and without excess steps or movement from the hands or feet.

Students should push their hips as high as they can towards the ceiling.

5️⃣ Proficiency
Students should understand that the entrance and exit from bridge skills fully influence the proficiency of the bridge.
