To finish up my spotlight on Australia, here are some pics (circa 1998) of our honeymoon. We spent a month exploring this incredible country. We got certified for diving in Sydney and made our way up the coast to Cairns. The camper van was such a cool way to travel. We met so many people at the caravan parks. Lot of Aussie's on vacation, not just foreigners like us. Some of the places we visited along the way were the Blue Mountains, Byron Bay, Magnetic Island, Hervey Bay and the absolutely gorgeous Whitsunday Islands. We ended our trip with some time in Daintree Rainforest and 3 days on a dive boat anchored out along the Great Barrier Reef. We got to experience doing night dives with torches (flash lights) and saw many little red eyes staring back at us. I'm not sure that I would be brave enough to do that now! Australia is full of fun, friendly people, so many interesting creatures and non stop beauty, both on land and in the water. I hope you enjoy the pics. Some are a little grainy but I guess that comes with age 😊

WHAT TO BRING BACK

Every year, around this time, I look forward to seeing my very favourite NHL guy on TV. People don't understand why he's my very favourite, until I tell them about how amazing he was to our family and what a sweet, kind, man he is.
Shortly before our trip to Vancouver to experience the 2010 Olympics, Kyle broke his leg on a ski hill. We had to rent a wheel chair to be able to get around while he was in his cast. While we were waiting in line at Canada Pavilion to see the Stanley Cup, we were told that it was time to pack up as the Cup had to be moved to a different location. Phil, the Cup Keeper, came over to us and told us to go wait behind the curtain and he would bring the Cup to us. We went behind the black curtain and waited for him to finish up with the crowd. Phil arrived with the Stanley Cup, placed it in Kyle's lap and proceeded to take family photos for us. He was such a gentleman. We had our own private session with Phil and the Cup and that man will always hold a special spot in my heart.

Spotlight on Croatia 🇭🇷
Last October we did some road tripping through the country side. Some of our stops included Zagreb, Motovun, and Plitvice Lakes National Park. We also hit several small villages along the coast such as Rovinj, Zadar, and Trogir. Then we dropped the car off in Split so we could switch to travelling via foot and ferry to Hvar and Dubrovnik. Croatia is an incredibly beautiful country. We stopped to sample and purchase some cheese and delicious homemade brandy at one of the many roadside stands. We visited the surprisingly very interesting, sometimes humerous, sometimes heartbreaking Museum of Broken Relationships. We hiked trails and boardwalk surrounded by waterfalls, swam in the clear and warm ocean, drove a 50 year old convertible bug across the island of Hvar, walked many cool, ancient roads, ate my weight in truffles and so much more! I would highly recommend Croatia as a place to add to your list, and I would be happy to help you plan it. Just a note of caution, the beaches are pebbles so water shoes are important. We didn't have any so we avoided the rocks by renting a paddle boat with a slide! Also, there are tons of stairs, hills, and uneven and slippery stone roads. While this all adds to the charm, would be quite difficult if you have mobility issues or need to push a stroller. I hope you enjoy the photos and message me if you'd like to see yourself there!

I want to give you an update on what I've been up to. I have done a ton of training, getting certified with several suppliers. Now I seem to have a lot of people asking me if I am able to sell any sort of product or just those ones I'm certified in. I can absolutely book any type of travel for you! In the past few weeks I have booked all inclusive sun vacations, Vegas package, road trip accommodations, a river cruise. I have a client going to Spain, wanting premium seats, and I managed to get her into business class pods for the same price as the premium seats were! That was a nice surprise to find that seat sale! 🍺 Oktoberfest 2024 🍺

If you want some fun music, delicious food and great beer, plan on being at Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany during September 21-October 6, 2024.

No wonder it’s such a great party, this will be the 189th year of celebrating 🍻

Oktoberfest was originally held in October but had to adapt because of the shorter days and cooler weather. To keep with the tradition of the name it begins on the first Saturday after September 15 and runs until the first Sunday in October.

Truffle hunting is done with pigs - MYTH
We totally thought that was the case until we went on a truffle hunt out of Motovun, in the Istria region of Croatia. We had a fun, educational day, with the dogs leading the way. They are trained by getting truffle morsels as treats for finding them. When you see a dog start to dig, you best hustle to take over. They enjoy the taste of them as much as us humans do. We thoroughly enjoyed our day hunting for black truffles and were fortunate enough to find quite a few. This was such a cool experience!

The King of Fruits, Durian, the terrible smelling fruit that you will either love or loathe. People compare the putrid scent to things like gym socks, rotten eggs and turpentine, just to name a few. The smell is so strong that it is banned from public transit. Durian is a popular food grown and eaten in Asia as it is renowned for its high nutrition and versatility. It can be eaten raw or cooked. It reminds me of cilantro in that it has a taste that is enjoyed by some, but not tolerated by others. We were given gloves to wear while we ate it so we wouldn't have the stench left on our hands. Some of us thought it was yummy, some didn't really enjoy it. You'll have to try it for yourself to decide.

Most tours have a max capacity of 16 people, with an average of 12 people. You can book your own private group with only 8 people! Dreams Onyx Punta Cana
This luxury family resort was a blast! There were many pools to choose from but my favourite was definitely the lazy river that was like a splash park for adults. Buckets of water dumping on your head and floating through waterfalls. At one point the spraying water steers you into the center pool where there is a stage, swim up bar, submerged tables with seating and some wicked water slides. We had so much fun here! Oh and the rooms, food and beaches were all amazing too.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana
This family fun resort is another beauty. With water parks and kid and teen zones, everyone can have a good time here. This resort has a 3 bedroom family suite with room for 8 but it also has luxurious adult only swim outs. Whatever you are looking for, you’ll find it here at this budget friendly resort. The food is excellent here, the new chef is fantastic! The pools, beaches and ocean are what I’ve come to expect. Beautiful, as that seems to be the theme on this tour.

Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana
I really love the layout of this resort. With all 500 rooms located around the perimeter of the property, it allows for easy navigation to all the restaurants and pools. It also makes it easy to meet up with your fellow travellers at one of the many options for a meal, cocktail or fancy coffee. The lazy river and large waterslides are tucked away at the back of the resort, surrounded by villas. While I floated in the lazy river I saw several multi generational families in this area, creating amazing new memories together. There is a kids club as well as a teen club and there are water parks and pools for everyone of all ages. Fun family pools, romantic adult only pool, and swim up bar. You'll find them all here. The gorgeous beach has plenty of sun bed options for lazing around or opt for playing beach games or a swim in the refreshing ocean. This resort truly is wonderful.

You have seen several posts from me recently from the Dominican Republic. I was fortunate enough to be on a trip with Hyatt Inclusive Collection and had the opportunity to stay at 4 different resorts and visit an additional 8. I still have several posts to make, to show you how great all these places are. The resorts that I toured covered everything from budget friendly to luxury, and they were all really beautiful. There is definitely something for everyone's taste, and everyone's budget.
