Osipow Farms

Osipow Farms Keeping family first, & trying to break away from that daily grind of a J-O-B! We are a farm family in Alberta. I am finding ways to replace his oilfield income.
(1)

We by no means run a large scale farm, but our desire is to be self sufficient, which can be very difficult for the small farmer. My husband supplemented our farm income by working in the oilpatch, but retired when he turned 65. This page is dedicated to sharing our experiences, not only in maintaining the small scale farm, but also bringing in the extra income to keep our family & our critters happy & comfortable!

We've struggled our way through some pretty intense challenges these past couple of years. I have to admit that 2023 very nearly did us in. I am certain that without the help and support we received from our friends and neighbors things would have been a LOT worse!

As is often the case, with challenge comes change.

I was forced to take some time off due to serious health issues, some of which were related to stress For several months I had to focus on my recovery.

I've had to slow down and reevaluate EVERYTHING I do.

I used to THRIVE on chaos. I loved nothing more than working a busy Farmer's Market, or any other hectic task. BUSY was my element and I loved nothing more than working hard.

The time has come to leave the hard, stressful work to a younger generation.

It's time for me to focus on less demanding, more mindful, and enjoyable income streams. As such, things on my page will be changing too.

I'm still crafting & crocheting, and I still have some critters.

One thing that's new... I have ventured into the world of writing. You can get my first book of poetry, 'A Warrior Woman's Heart', on Amazon now.

Dear Hinton and surrounding area,

I’m writing to ask for support.

On the morning of January 12, 2024, Lawrence and Jennifer Prince lost their home and all their belongings yesterday in a fire. They got out safely with the dogs. At this time we are asking for monetary donations, anything could help. They are staying at the BCMI and donations can be dropped off at the front desk or you can send e-transfers to [email protected].

Lawrence and Jennifer have been long-time residents of Hinton. In November, Lawrence was let go from his employment for medical reasons. The challenges have been hard on this family. Please let’s get them back on their feet and blanket them with love and support.

Thank you.

05/12/2023

I simply cannot believe that 2023 is almost over! This year has quite literally been a complete blur.

Amidst all the chaos, I have lost touch with everyone, not just my beloved customers, but friends and family, too.

This year has been very heavy, laden with constant hurdles and losses. But for the grace of God and the strength, support, and kindness of many friends and neighbors, I'm not sure we would have made it through.

Sometimes words cannot express the depths of our gratitude.

With everything that's been going on for us, I haven't been able to do much in the way of business this year.

In August, I was diagnosed with a rare condition (4 in 100,000 rare) called Functional Neurological Disorder. It has drastically impacted my mobility, my executive functioning skills, energy levels, and at times my ability to speak or drive.

I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I will likely not be able to return to the fast-paced world of markets and working directly with the public. I have to adapt to living with this disability.

That being said, I still have to try to make a living! I am trying to figure out what that will look like.

I am still crafting, and have recently started baking and canning again. I don't know if I will ever get back to the point where I can manage custom orders, but I do have some items available for purchase.

I've been out of the sales scene long enough that I am at a bit of a loss when it comes to how to price my wares. I've decided that I'm going to try something new and different while I try to get back in the groove.

I haven't been able to manage selling very much this year, so I need to make sure that I am not selling myself short by underpricing my items. I will be posting items for sale in an auction format.

There will be a starting bid price. Minimum bid increments will be $0.50. Bidding will end 24 hours after the first bid is received. The winning bidder must be able to arrange to pick up items at the farm.

***Bidding on baked goods will run for 24 hours from the time of posting to ensure freshness.

Hopefully, we can all have a little fun with this!

WISHING YOU ALL A BLESSED HOLIDAY SEASON!

For months this girl has hidden away in a nesting box. Gathering her eggs was a battle every single day. She'd growl and peck every single time.

Well, today her nesting box was empty. I found her underneath the rollaway boxes... Babysitting.
Does this mean I have won the battle with broody? 😂

I regret to inform you all that due to personal health reasons, I am unfortunately forced to make some changes.
I will not be able to work with BC Fruit Truck this year. 5S Farms has graciously stepped forward to fill my position to serve the Yellowhead County area in working with Jonathan to continue providing you with top-quality BC Fruit this season.

I am also no longer a consultant with Watkins.

As time progresses I will have to see exactly what I will be capable of managing. At this point, my main focus is on recovering as much as I can. Thank you for understanding.
