John grew-up playing on the shores of the Salish Sea then earned degrees in biology and education from the University of Victoria. He is a cofounder of Oak and Orca Bioregional School in Victoria, where he worked for 8 years as Science Teacher and Field Trip Coordinator. He is certified as a guide by the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of B.C. and as an instructor by Paddle Canada. Caroline, who has a background in education and small business management, is coordinating the trips from home. We have a small fleet of kayaks that include Delta 14s for singles and Delta 20 Tandems for families and couples.

New for next year! We will be putting all our tips towards the purchase of 3 Falcon sails and the hardware needed to use them on singles and tandems. Estimated cost $3000. This new equipment will be perfect for use in Long Harbour on those windy days when it's too rough to do our regular tours.

This caboose, which was retired in 1982, used to run up to Lake Cowichan when I was young. This is probably the one that I used watch go by when I was a kid. John Topham

Celebrating 100 commercial kayaking days. The photos are from my first kayak tour with Alberni Outpost in Nanaimo and my 100th tour (for Kayak Salt Spring). I have had the great pleasure of taking hundreds of people out on kayaking trips on BC's beautiful south coast.

Thank you to Kris Nordgren and family for these amazing pictures from our recent tour.
