Today was Basel and Zurich 🇨🇭
More Christmas markets in both cities but quite different in both cities

Basel , i went to Sunday church! It was an incredible experience with the organ at the cathedral ( all German but i understood some words, even had communion)
Took the train from Basel to Zurich! Super fast train and super easy experience overall

Zurich was more upscale markets and cute small decorated chill zones! Very upscale LOL

Today was all about Black Forest in Germany ( where Black forest cake originated) plus cuckoo clocks
Got to go inside an old farm house built in 1612 where the farm animals lived next to the farmers under the same roof ( odd but super interesting) plus made fresh butter
Also the local head piece for the women had a fancy hat that has 14 pompons on top ( cross shaped) and based on the color of the pompons that is how you knew if they were married or not. Black was married and Red was single… up to now this tradition of wearing these hats is still being practiced in the town of Black Forest!

Today we were in Strasbourg France 🇫🇷 did a walking tour of the city, went to the Petite France village and learnt there are over 10 Christmas markets around! So the story of how the French flag was created was interesting: a woman sewed it from her blue apron, then she took the red fabric from a N**i flag and the white was a bed sheet! She sewed all fabrics together ( you can see this flag in a museum)
The Jewish sinagogue only has 6 candles Menora to reflect the 6 millions Jews that died in the holocust
There is a street that is called the Stork road! Storks are huge here! Lots of them all around and they build their nest in this road… rows and rows of nests

Agua duck was impressive too

The Notre Dame Strasbourg was the tallest with 142 metres was finished by 1439, inside they have this beautiful working clock, and the biggest nativity scene i have ever seen

Today was all about visiting a castle! Was so much fun going to Heidelberg Germany for the Christmas markets and seeing a real castle called Schloss Heidelberg. In this castle there is a wine barrel that can hold 220,000 litres of wine… wine was drank back then instead of water as water was filled with too much bacteria.
Went on the autobond highway ( no speed limit) it was great as we were in a bus! Lol
Also learnt the colors of the German flag 🇩🇪 ( black: past history under the the kings pressures , really never free)
( red: stands for the blood of the past)
( gold: stands for the future)

Today was a day spent admiring the castles along the Rhine and going to Rudesheim Germany, did a Mechanical Music Museum, had an amazing brandy coffee, more Christmas markets and finally some clasical music concert on board the beautiful Avalon Panorama!

Cologne Germany! Wow what a beautiful city and specially with the Christmas Markets
So people here celebrate Carnival instead of Christmas! Carnival is celebrated on Nov 11th. The Christmas markets where the highlight for me! I was in Heaven gettting in the Christmas mood! Wow from fresh smells of toasted nuts to German sausages being cooked in the open fire and the sounds of Christmas carols in the air! Really can put any scrooges in the Holiday mood
Also learned that in Cologne the bones of the three Wiseman from the bible are burried in the Catherdral ( is what they say) they sure make a huge spectacle of the story
