What a great day on the water!

Last Friday was an excellent day to be out and about, exploring the natural beauty of this province! This fine group of folks came up from south of the 49th to celebrate birthdays and family.

Meeting up early morning, the day remained overcast for the most part, with fog rolling through over the river as it continued inland - it made the day feel extra cozy, as we were blanketed in our own little slice of Nova Scotian paradise. Lunch was a Curried Chicken sandwich with NS Royal Gala apples, double cream brie, on local sourdough.

Thanks again goes out, as it is truly awesome to choose to experience and appreciate fishing in Nova Scotia.

It's not always about the fish

Though they're definitely appreciated, one of the things we love most about guiding is the different ideas that drive our clients to booking a trip with us. Many clients want to hook up on trophy fish, truth be told: who doesn't? But that may not be the number one factor for everyone.
Our first trip of the year was a day of walk and wade brookie fishing through a few backcountry rivers in Chester. This client was brand new to fly fishing, and for a completely clean slate, I firmly believe the educational piece of a guided trip is far more important then a huge fish. Finding wild trout close to the city is hard, finding wild trout close to the city willing to bite a fly tends to be even harder. This trip focused on both the fundamentals of casting and presentation, but also finding fish, what "looks juicy", and what looks like a ditch on the side of the road.

What's the point in taking someone who's never fly fished before 3 hours North and handing them a 22 inch rainbow, if it's just not possible for them to replicate on their own.

Hey everyone!

My names Colin J Campbell, (kid on the right)
And I'm the head guide, and owner here at Blue Halo Fly Fishing, the fellow on the left, is our trip aid, and resident super-chef Jonathan Hong. I figured I should make a brief introduction for who we are, and what we do.

Blue Halo was founded in 2023, shortly after I completed my Freshwater Fishing Guide course with Tourism Canada, and thanks to a number of awesome people and organizations along the way, we've become a fresh, but established company seeking to get people out on the water, and hook them up on big fish.

We specialize in adaptive, accessible, and unique guided fishing trips, and providing the best hands on education for fly angling, and proper conservation of our freshwater salmonids.

I mentioned the awesome people and organizations, and I wholeheartedly recognize that if it weren't for many of these individuals and groups, I would not be running this business today, huge thank you to:
