A long weekend full of action and adventure.
Starting our trip off with a swimming deer in the saltwater, while humpback whales work the krill balls right near the boat.
The Chinook Salmon are on the move and the fight is off the charts.
Fresh Halibut lurk at the sea bottom and as you can see in the pics below we had some good luck.
While on the ocean the serenity and scenery is amazing, very peaceful.

Covid-19 related to fish guiding. It’s spring Steelhead time in the Skeena and Kitimat regions. Although the fish are moving in, the clients are not. Tourism is at the lowest we’ve ever seen and seasonal angling guides will struggle from covid-19 financially. Non locals are told to stay away from communities regarding tourism. Currently, there are rules, fishing guides cannot take anyone fishing outside of their family home Staying mentally positive is important, and for me, Steelhead fishing has and will continue to be that crutch.

I’ll try to post as many pics as I can for our guests that were coming to visit us and give you that armchair feeling thru my posts.

Stay Safe and stay positive!

Tracey John Hittel - Kitimat Lodge http://kitimatlodge.com

PS: Hopefully this June we can book trips for Chinooks either on the river or ocean…and that pre booking for USA citizens is an option (if and when the border opens, should be open by June?)

I am starting to post my "older" video clips on my YouTube Channel when I was still a fishing guide. I posted the first one yesterday. Title is Dungeness Crab Feast. Now, when I say older this one is 27 years old...but beauty I think, staring my two BEST friends and fishing buddies the late Ed Schulmeister and Lester Bryant.
Here is the direct link to the under 2 minute video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRciNnrApyc&t=22s
Hope you enjoy. I could do it all over again if I could and I did my BEST to help other fishing guides in the business. I was their chairman from 1996 to 2006. We were called SAGA (Skeena Angling Guides Association).

We are enjoying a Dungeness Crab feast from the Pacific Ocean west coast British Columbia. That is me Noel Gyger and my two good fishing buddies Ed Schulmeis...
