Starting today all visitors to the UK will need the new ETA. The ETA costs £10 and allows multiple visits to the UK for up to six months at a time. It will be valid for two years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first. Everyone, including babies and children, will need an ETA and travellers can apply on behalf of others.

The ETA will be required for visits such as tourism, business, visiting family and friends, short-term study and even just transiting through the UK (so even flights connecting in the UK).

A week ago I visited one of the most popular Vienna Christmas markets! It got busy very quickly as it was a Saturday and a holiday the next day. But it was such a pretty setting and lots to see. had shuttles running every 30 min from the ship all afternoon for convenience. Would liked to have spent more time in Vienna but lucky to be docked 2 nights there.

My favourite place on the Avalon ships while day sailing…the coffee lounge. So cozy and rarely busy. You can come any time day or night for teas, coffee, cappuccino, lots of baked treats and trail mix. The gingerbread this time is a wee bit addictive! 🎄

Some pics of Nuremberg Christmas Market today. Such a fun atmosphere with yummy mulled wine (Gluhwein) and the smell of gingerbread in the air! Did you know that people collect the mugs? You purchase your mulled wine or hot chocolate and you pay a deposit on the mug. If you want to keep it that’s fine. If you return it your deposit is given back. Some people collect many different mugs as they make their way through the European markets. I’m bringing home a couple for sure 🎄

The Avalon Illumination decked out for Christmas Market cruisers. From the multiple trees to the stars on the stateroom doors, there are little touches everywhere (gingerbread cookies!). And of course Christmas Carols playing. Looking forward to a great day in Nuremberg! 🎄

Old Town Prague Christmas market today. The most well known due to its stunning location, but there are lots of markets in Prague to visit. Such a festive atmosphere today. Had to try the traditional Trdelnik (Chimney Cake)….and of course a mulled wine!

First night in Prague! Our hotel lobby is beautifully decorated. Our group had dinner at a local place that was buzzing with excitement and great food. Lots to see tomorrow! Early to bed tonight.

On our last night in Botswana our guides planned a special Sundowner for us and even sang us a little song. Later a private dinner was laid out for us on a raised deck overlooking the Chobe River. Such a special way to end our stay at
