We went all in with 2024✈️It has been a year of expanding, taking risks, learning, growing, researching, travelling ourselves and watching our clients having incredible experiences around the world. 🗺️

There is a special freestyle vacation happening for a couple today that we can say is an itinerary that we will be proud of for a lifetime. When they approached us I honestly had to sit on it for a bit before I let George know that I would take it on. This particular vacation is 4 months long and needed to be built from scratch. Not only that, we needed to be able to work very close with our clients on this to make sure each location fit their style and vision. Once we got going together it was as if we were on a big shopping trip together and oh so much fun!

This grande tour starts in Europe and ends in Asia. It’s the most dynamic vacation I have built to date with several flights, hotels, tours, etc! A vacation like this needs to flow in a particular direction so there is no backtracking and it’s always important to us to make sure the days of flying or taking the train are enjoyable rather than stressful.

Just imagine over a 4 month span seeing the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Philippines and Vietnam. Imagine experiencing airlines such as Air Portugal, Emirates and Japan Airlines to name a few. ✈️And most importantly, imagine it being completely unique to you! No one has ever done this exact vacation but you.

When we build these vacations it’s as if we’re in a movie 🍿 We become completely immersed in it as if we are travelling. 🧳 When we say that we love our business, we mean it. 😉 We have to feel like we would stay in these hotels or apartments too or take a particular flight that we are suggesting our clients take. If it’s not good enough for us, it’s not good enough for you.

As our clients prepare to take off today we want to wish them a safe and wonderful experience. We thank you for your trust in us to create this magical experience for you. 🥂Up, up and away you go. ✈️

Last week we had a lovely lady reach out to us who had been referred by a family member. She asked for a specific amount of days for her destination and for some reason there was a glitch between the public site and our Travel Agent site with Westjet Vacations which didn’t allow me to see what she was seeing. This never happens (as far as we know) so I had no idea until she let me know! What I wanted to share is that this woman who has never booked with us allowed us the opportunity to book this package for her. Many people would respond with frustration or perhaps a comment such as why wouldn’t I just do it myself. Maybe they would assume we’re trying to get them to spend more money with staying longer or we don’t know what we’re doing. This lady responded with gratitude for being able to book this with us and was just happy we could do it. 🙏🏼 This stuck with me because I think we can often get busy in our careers and forget why we are where we are. Every single person who allows us the opportunity to grow is the reason we are growing.

In a world that is very busy and one that can sometimes be a little tough I just felt this was worth a share. We are fortunate in our Travel Agency to be able to offer the same pricing that you see on the public sites with Westjet Vacations, Sunwing and Expedia. This allows us the opportunity to serve our clients and find the best flights & resorts and for you to sit back and relax. We’re also deeply grateful for your support otherwise we wouldn’t have a business. 🙏🏼

Happy Monday! It was another beautiful weekend in central Alberta, we hope you all enjoyed it.

This morning we are working on many All Inclusive vacation bookings for those hot sunny, relaxing winter getaways! Many of our clients are booking for Christmas or their kids February school break. A few of our favourites are going to fill up soon. ☀️

Many people ask us how we get paid. In short here is your answer. We have agent access to all of these websites with the same prices that you can see but we get a commission from them. Many people wonder why you would use a Travel Agent when it’s cheaper to do it yourself. Fun fact…it’s the same or less with us if we find something a little better for you or maybe we save you from taking a terrible flight or staying at a mediocre resort. Flights are slightly different thing, we can cost more or less but we take them very seriously when we book our clients so we find the best flights possible at a fair price. It has been many years since we’ve had clients stuck in an airport due to a terrible layover with our air only bookings. We’re very proud of that!

So with no agent fee and no need to meet in person with us why not reach out and have someone you can trust book your vacation. If things go sideways guess who doesn’t have to be on hold with AI after calling a 1-800 number and pushing 5 different buttons in hopes of speaking to an agent. Not you!

Happy Wednesday to you from Sierra Travel ✈️We have a few things keeping us busy this week that we thought we would share to give those of you who are dreaming up what’s next on your vacation bucket list a little inspo🧳

✈️Have you considered visiting Aruba or Curaçao? Creating a itinerary that isn’t full of ridiculous layover’s and is full of a beautiful vacation experience from the moment you leave Calgary is exactly what we are building for a wonderful couple at the moment.

✈️All inclusive vacations are keeping us very busy! Families,couples, WEDDINGS and some that are heading out over the Christmas break or February break when the kids are off from school.

✈️We’re getting into some fun extra’s with a tour company in Cancun that is through a trusted company “Nexus”. It feels great to email directly with the sales rep and to receive such a prompt and energetic reply. We want to save our clients time & money by booking them on excursions that are worth their while.

✈️European itineraries are continuing to keep us busy! There really isn’t a bad time to visit Europe.

✈️Japan is on the map for us in Alberta with Calgary offering direct flights!

✈️Vietnam and the Philippines are a couple other countries that our clients are heading to as well.

✈️Argentina is another one that we’ve built a vacation with. This week we need to get their full itinerary emailed to them which is a little thing we do to have everything in one place for our clients along with a few tips. It’s a great opportunity to review everything as it’s getting closer for them and us!

🚢 Cruises are in full swing and will be year round for us! Did you know if you take a cruise and purchase your next one while on board you can transfer it to our Travel Agency? That way we get the pleasure of working with you again!

✈️Organized Tours such as Trafalgar and Contiki are fantastic for our clients who would like to arrive in their destination and have a group to travel with. We have a few heading out and highly recommend them!

So where in the world willl you go next?

George and I look forward to working with each of our clients! If you could hear our excitement as we share about what we’re up to you would know we love what we get to create each day. It’s always appreciated and never gets boring. I’m often guilty of talking is ear off☺️Creating is something I’m meant to do and I’ve been so fortunate to have been trained by one of the best! Every once in a while I discover something that I didn’t know about that would have made my life a little easier and I will say to George “thanks a lot for telling me that” his response…”you didn’t ask”🤣He has given me the space to work hard and earn my place as his partner. Old school and tough love wins ☺️Thanks for that dad:)

Something that we missed in Scotland and I’m a little sad about was not seeing the Highland Cows! We’re so glad our clients were there a month earlier than us and shared their pictures from their 3 day Highland Tour though. 🙏🏼

With direct flights to Edinburgh from Calgary and it only being around a 7 hour flight we highly recommend flying in for a full week and enjoying all of Scotland or you can hop on the train and spend a second week in the London area.

We thought that sharing a little travel recap from Sierra Travel Sylvan Lake over this past week might be fun! We know that the best way to dream about a vacation is often when you come across something that someone else has done. What we love to do personally for our clients from there is create something extra special to make it unique for you! Maybe some have done the same vacation but it’s never exactly the same. You are different, maybe your kids are different ages, the time of year isn’t exactly the same and so on.

A few fun things going on here for our clients👇📸

Mexico Vacations have been happening and they are now winding up! Many are booking their All Inclusive vacations for destinations throughout Mexico, Dominican, Jamaica and Costa Rica! If you like to catch some good deals we encourage you to consider going before December 15th. Mid January can be pretty good too.

Many of our Freestyle Vacations clients are just arriving home from Europe or they are still there. Waking up this morning to a text from my honeymoon couple that let me know they had made it back to Sylvan and had the most amazing time in Italy was just the best❤️And then I had an email from my mother/daughter travellers who are in Greece who sound like they are in heaven at the moment. 🌍As per usual I could go on but let’s just say that none of this is out of your reach if it’s a dream you have for one day. We even have a mother and son in Japan who are having the most wonderful time! With the direct flights to Japan with Westjet it’s not as out of reach to go there as one might imagine. We had a father and son there in July and they had an absolute blast together as well.

Let’s not forget about our own beautiful country too 🇨🇦 I’m currently working with a hotel owner in Newfoundland who has lived in Alberta for nearly 20 years and recently moved home and purchased this property that they have ran over the past year. I have a couple in search of a unique 10 day tour for next June so I’m working on building something special for them. ❤️
