The Visitor Reception Centre (VRC) on the Trans Canada Hwy North of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, has been chosen as the site for the "Southwest Saskatchewan Tourism Development & Investment Attraction Hub." Funded by the Rural Opportunities Fund and managed by Community Futures Southwest, this two-year year pilot project aims to enhance tourism development, business incubation, and investment attraction in the Southwest region. A Steering Committee, consisting of representatives from local municipalities and tourism stakeholders, will foster collaboration and support for the initiative.
Partners: City of Swift Current , Cypress Hills - Grasslands Destination Area, Town of Eastend, Town of Gull Lake, Village of Frontier, Three Points Economic Partnership (Town of Cabri, Village of Abbey, and Village of Hazlet), Town of Maple Creek, and Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park.
The VRC will serve as a viral first step in showcasing tourism and investment opportunities, including business transitions, community profiles, and real estate options. Managed by Project Manager Kristine Scheller and her team, the Southwest Hub has already welcomed over 1,340 guests on average weekly since its opening in June. We invite travelers to visit the Southwest Hub for information on attractions, local entrepreneurs, and updates on activities in the Southwest region.
