South America here I come!! 🇧🇷🇦🇷
Not only do I get to check a new continent off the list, I also get to check off 3 new countries- with stops in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. And if that wasn’t good enough I also get to sail with brand I’ve never sailed with before- Swan Hellenic.
This is a work trip and I will also be networking with our head office executive, and many sales managers and VP’s for top brands that we sell. It’s going to be jam packed and amazing!
While I’m out, my inbox will still be monitored by my wonderful assistant Sheena- you can also reach her directly at [email protected]. She will still be managing documents, special requests, transfers, final payments, and digital itineraries while I’m gone.

Flashback Friday- ✈️🏝️😍
Only 3 weeks ago I got to take a quick trip to Cancun with my newest team member Michelle and check out a line up of properties!
We were hosted by one of my favorite business development managers and got to know a really great group of TA’s from across Western Canada.
These trips are so important for building a successful travel business. Not only did we get to see a large variety of resorts for ourselves, we also got to meet the sales managers for these resorts so we have contacts when we need them! Nothing beats sending a special request for a client directly to someone that you shook hands with last week ☺️
We also got to “talk shop” with other TA’s for 5 days straight- and it’s amazing how you can still learn more about resorts, brands, companies or tips and tricks- even after 10 years in the business.
It was a great week away and I can’t wait for the next one!

I just spent 2 amazing nights at this resort- and it’s a great option for an adult getaway with your significant other, family or friends! The highlights of this property are:
-Location: 1 block from 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen which is a long pedestrian street filled with shops, markets, bars and restaurants- and it’s perfect for people watching and spending your evenings
-Staff: you can see that the staff take pride in their job and the service from the heart really shows.
-Food: I loved everything I had from the lamb gyro’s at the Mediterranean restaurant to the fish tacos at lunch or the chicken and waffles for breakfast. Even the poolside chicken wings were amazing. Room service is also included 24/7.
-Drinks: High quality drinks with premium liquor brands. La Mecorada is a proper cocktail lounge with a mixologist on site to create custom drinks catered to your tastes
- Room: Huge, spacious, super clean and spacious and the 2 person whirlpool bath was a nice way to unwind after a long day. A/C worked GREAT! There are a lot of gorgeous swim out rooms.
- Entertainment: regular foam parties in the main pool are a highlight here as well as quality shows in the open air lobby every night. It’s important to note that most of the bars close around 11 and there’s no disco on site so if you’re looking for late night fun you would plan on heading to 5th ave.

There’s a poll over in my stories asking how long you think my child passport application took. It might not be what you expected! I will share info tomorrow in stories on what day and time I went- so you can better plan for your renewal.
Common questions I’m asked about passports:
1. Do we need to renew passports first before booking our trip? Technically no. As long as I have the names and birthdays exactly as they “will” appear on the new passports and you ensure you have it in hand in time for travel you’re good to go. Turnaround time on standard applications is 3 weeks so plan accordingly. You can pay for a rushed application but why risk it- just renew early!
2. Our passports expire in March but the trip we booked is in December, should we renew? This depends where you’re going. Some countries require your passport to be valid for 6 months past the return date (ex: Dominican) but for the most common destinations (US, Mexico, Cuba) it only needs to be valid for the duration of your stay.
3. I got married but my passport is still in my maiden name- what should I do? Technically you can continue to travel with your old passport until it’s time to renew. You just need to make sure that your tickets/travel reservation match your passport exactly and you won’t have any issues. If you’re at all concerned you can also travel with a copy of your marriage certificate as it will show both your married and maiden names.

I personally visited this resort in 2021 (first trip as a family after the "pause") and we really enjoyed it. There are 3 full sized waterslides (one with tubes that kids and adults can go down together on), a lazy river, a rock climbing wall, and even a roll glider (like hang gliding combined with a roller coaster). No reservations are needed for the a-la-carte restaurants and they are unlimited. Room service is unlimited, all the ice cream you can eat from coco cafe. No towel cards and unlimited towels. Top shelf alcohol and pool/beach waiter service included. Less than 30 minutes from the airport! I am still daydreaming about the french onion soup! It was that good! Our kids also loved dancing every night in the lobby to the live music. Oh and did I mention the spa? One of the most gorgeous spas out there!

That’s a wrap on Canadians 2024! 🥎🌾
This was the first year that 2 women’s teams were represented from Saskatchewan and the 4th year there was any women’s team represented from SK. It was a pleasure to cheer on so many talented women, and I was honoured to stand along side all of you! We may not have gotten the wins we wanted, but by showing up we are blazing a trail for many other female athletes and I can’t wait to see how it evolves over years to come. There was a lot of growth on so many levels- and for that we should all be proud.
As for me, it’s time to rest this old body and catch up on a week’s worth of emails. Thanks all for your patience! 🫶🏼🥰

One of the best things about being a travel consultant is that the “slower” months of the year are always June and July (by August and September the winter bookings are in full tilt)!
It’s great since I can still keep working from home with the kids out of school but also have enough down time to enjoy the hot summer days with them. This past week we enjoyed time out at Anglin lake, the Martensville pool/waterslides, ice cream from and the giant slip and slide hosted by & Warman Fire & Rescue today!
I’m pretty sure we are all appreciating this heat a little more this year after our cool and rainy start to spring. What have you been enjoying so far this summer?!

My Travel Agent FAQ’s Revealed!
I’m asked all of these questions a LOT so figured it makes the most sense to have the answers readily available!
1. Are there fees to book with you?
The short answer is no. 95% of the products I sell are the exact same price as online; this includes all inclusive vacation packages. In some cases (ex: domestic air) my supplier’s price will be the same as the online price and I will have to mark up the total to include commission for my service, but for most cases- I’m always the same price as online.
2. How do you get paid then?
Every travel product you book online has commission built into it. By booking it yourself online you are letting that company keep the commission for themselves after you did all the work. Booking via a travel agent allows us to assist with your travel plans and keep the commission- which is a win-win for booking with large tour operators and still supporting local!
3. When do you get paid?
Typically commission is paid out the month after our clients travel. Meaning that if you don’t book, or you book elsewhere, we get paid $0 for our time and effort.
4. We got quotes from another agency, could you check on trips for us too?
This is a tricky one. As all travel agents realize- you are always looking for the best vacation for the lowest possible price- so why not have 3 agents looking for you? The short answer- we are all selling the same products, and all are for the same price (with the exception of having extra group space). By doing this you are committing two extra agents to a lot of unnecessary work that they won’t be paid for. So find an agent you like and trust, and be open and communicate what you like or don’t like about we’ve suggested. Also let us know if you’re needing more quotes- that’s our job!
5. We’ve always just booked with (insert online travel site here) and found great deals. We’ve also never had issues- why should I book with you?
If you’ve never had a problem arise related to travel, and have never had any questions before, during, or after travel- then congratulations- you’re among the minority! What most people don’t realize is everything you see online is at our fingertips in one monster search engine so we KNOW we are getting you the best flights, best room available, or best price for your dates. If you love searching for deals on your own- that’s great! Shop around, get an idea of what you’re looking for, then bring it to the expert to take over from there. We might see things you are missing! We will also be with you every step of the way.
6. How can I reach you?
I work from home which means I’m available almost all hours of the day, every day of the week. You can reach me via email, phone, text, Facebook messenger, or Instagram messenger and I will typically respond within an hour (but usually less). I do try to keep quoting inside “regular” business hours, but during the busy winter season you will find me booking clients during the evenings and weekends.
7. Which tour operators and companies do you sell?
I book every major tour operator, airline, hotel franchise, cruise line, car rental company, and tour company that you can imagine. The main list would be WestJet Vacations, Sunwing, Transat, Sunquest, Signature Vacations, Disney, Expedia (these are about 7 of over 200 +companies) I also have access to other travel consolidator companies that aren’t available to the general public. If you have access to book it, so does your travel agent.
8. Do you book Air B&B or Homeaway properties?
No I do not. Short term home rental is actually illegal in many parts of the U.S, and other parts of the world as well, just not enforced. This past summer they enforced these laws in Maui and it left many people scrambling last minute for new accommodations. After hearing my fair share of horror stories regarding false advertising, double booked accommodations, etc I choose to stick to major tour operators, hotel chains, and licensed vacation home rental companies. Many people also don’t realize that travel insurance doesn’t cover Air B&B type properties, as they don’t fit the proper definition of “accommodation”. Often the savings aren’t worth the risk!
9. How do I know my booking is safe? I’ve heard of other travel agencies leaving clients high and dry.
Unlike some agencies, all of my bookings are done direct. So if we book you a Sunwing package, Sunwing will appear on your credit card statement and you will receive a client copy of your invoice from Sunwing. You will also receive an invoice from myself which is processed by Quality Control at TPI head office. We have over 800 agents Canada wide and are growing daily. I also have thousands of happy clients from over the past 5 years, and am fully committed to keeping my clients happy and growing my business!
10. Are there perks to booking with you?
Yes. Probably too many to list! But here’s a few:
a) You have an expert at your disposal to be able to answer every question under the sun. I do this full time, every day- I am a wealth of knowledge that is available to you, and I am quick to respond.
b) If ever you’re in trouble, just yelp for help! Yes I’ve watched too much Paw Patrol, but all joking aside it’s much easier knowing you have someone that’s a text away at any given moment rather than trying to call 1-800 numbers from foreign countries.
c) I have access to booking some products with only a deposit and final payment 45 days prior to departure. Some companies offer a $0 deposit!
11. I want to work with someone who is an experienced traveler them self. What experience do you have?
I specialize in all inclusive vacation packages, destination weddings, and group travel. I was a destination bride myself in 2013 (prior to joining the travel industry) so I have firsthand knowledge from the bride’s perspective as well as the agent perspective. I have been fortunate to be able to travel numerous times a year to various resorts and destinations. These trips have been girls trips, adult-only vacations, family trips with my babies, family trips with my young kids, and agent-only trips exploring various resorts. I have some great firsthand knowledge you can draw from!
12. I’ve been following your page but you haven’t shared any deals I’m interested in, or the dates don’t work. Do you have other deals?
If I haven’t been sharing deals it’s likely because I’m so busy helping clients with their travel plans based on their unique wish list. 13. This all sounds great but we have credit card/airline points we like to use for travel. Can you still help us?
Yes. Some programs allow you to book travel on your own, and will reimburse your credit card once the travel is posted to your statement. In those cases- of course! In other cases (WestJet Dollars, Companion Vouchers) I typically suggest that my clients book the air on their own, and I can book the accommodations (All Inclusive or regular) as well as the airport transfers, and insurance separately.
14. Speaking of insurance- are you licensed to sell travel insurance in Saskatchewan?
Yes I am! I offer many different products through our partner- Allianz Global Assistance. I have my Insurance Councils of Saskatchewan License, Bylaws Exam, and complete continuing education annually to keep this in place. I am legally required to offer insurance to every client I book, which is a good thing because it’s SO important to have adequate coverage.
