I have a cruise coming up, so I've been digging out my cruise bag and making sure all my usual cruise supplies are in there. It got me thinking, there are probably a few first time cruisers out there wondering what to pack!
On top of the usual, dressing for weather, pool days, formal and themed nights, dress codes, and excursions, there is a whole list of items you might not have thought of - but I have learned I really appreciate having!
So this post will focus on that!
1. Waterproof phone pouches. I can take amazing photos and videos on snorkeling trips and under water with these! A must have for me!
2. Lanyard. You will have a room key, and possibly other pieces of ID you need to carry with you, so this makes it super easy to have it handy at all time. I like the ones with the extendable pouch, so I don't have to take it off to scan for room charges or to enter my room.
3. Heavy duty magnet hooks.
Cruise cabins are SMALL and a tight fit. You will notice a lot of what I bring helps with space saving, and with storage so very limited in your stateroom, these hooks help to hang all kinds of things
Thing like...
4. Door hanger organizers, makeup organizers, and anything else that helps you keep yourself organized. Because the only thing smaller than a stateroom, is a cruise bathroom. You won't have the space to leave out your makeup and tools, so slap a hook on the metal door, and hang this bad boy up.
5. Extra hangers (whyyy do they only ever give me like 6 hangers?!). These ones fold so I like that, but any extra hangers from home will do! And hanging clothes means less wrinkles.
6. But if you do have wrinkles, this wrinkle removal spray works like a charm.
7. THIS is always with us. Camping. Cruises. Whatever. Long extendable bungee cord clothes hangers. Wet bathing suits and other items can be hung to dry on your balcony.
8. You know what else you will find in a small space? Smells. ALL the smells. There is no escape. Poo Pouri is a necessity.
9. I get car sick and sea sick terribly and these are the only things that work for. If you are new to cruising, just bring some. You don't know if you will need them, but will be so grateful you have them if waters get chopped.
10. Water shoes. Every beach is so different, and some are rocky or have coral. Plus sand gets DAYUM hot in that Caribbean sun. Get some water shoes.
11. Speaking of the beach, use a REEF safe sunscreen. Depending where you go, this may even be a requirement and some places will not allow you to have or use non reef safe sunscreen for the protection and safety of the oceans and sensitive eco systems.
12. While on the topic still of excursions, I love this flat money belt with RFID pockets. It sits really flat, and I use it crossbody under my clothes, with the bag part in the front of me. Passport, ID, currency. Keep it safe.
13. I send my husband for the entire coffee run in the morning. And sometimes I'm bringing back drinks for us. The problem is, the average human only has two arms. This handy folding contraption allows us to carry 4 drinks with one hand. Laugh now, but I don't have to keep getting up from my chair for a new drink every 20minutes, so I say win on this invention 😂
