It’s so easy to underestimate how many decisions go into planning a trip from start to finish.

Here’s how I help my clients cut through the noise:

✨ Start with your priorities. Ask yourself: What’s most important for this trip? Is it an all-inclusive experience, being close to specific attractions, or having a kid-free vibe?

✨ Consider your must-haves. Think amenities: Swim-up bars, private plunge pools, or even family-friendly suites with plenty of space. Make a list of non-negotiables and let that guide your search.

Mexico is so much more than Cancun!

One of our favourite parts of being travel advisors is introducing our clients to new ways to explore and go beyond Cancun.

And yes — Cancun is amazing, we visit every year! But - if you’re looking for something different, here’s a few ideas:

Huatulco (wa-tool-co)
🌴 The Canada of Mexico! Quaint, quiet, only a few resorts & full of Canadians. Rent a car here, explore the waterfalls and a nearby surfing town or take a boat tour to explore all 9 bays.

Holbox (hole-bosch)
🏝️ This tiny island feels like a secret slice of paradise.
Holbox is where I send clients who want untouched beauty and a slower pace. No cars, just sandy streets, boutique hotels, and flamingos casually hanging out on the shore. Plus, the bioluminescent waters at night? Total bucket list material.

Playa del Carmen
☀️A little more action, but with a local twist.
Playa del Carmen is all about variety. Stroll Quinta Avenida for vibrant restaurants and shops, or head to quieter beaches just outside the main area. We recommend a day trip to Cozumel for incredible snorkeling or diving, it’s just a ferry ride away.

Is the Hyatt Ziva, Los Cabos on your radar?

If you’re thinking of taking a family break away from work, school and schedules, it absolutely should be!

And on my recent stay I got all of the intel so you don’t have to go scouring the internet to verify information.

I’m talking SUP yoga, where to get the best guac and chips, which food to maybe avoid, where to watch the beautiful sunsets and which pool to sit at!

If you’re someone who doesn’t just want a place to lay your head but wants an experience when you stay at a hotel or resort you need the inside scoop.

Things like:
👉 Which rooms will get you maximum space for your budget
👉 Whether the suite is worth the upgrade and the pricetag
👉 The sweet spots of when to visit to get the best weather but avoid the crowds

This, and all of the other tidbits I pick up when I’m staying at a hotel or resort is why my clients choose to plan and book their trips with me instead of doing it online themselves.

I’m not just sipping G&Ts by the pool when I’m visiting! I’m verifying the things that go beyond the photos and the list of amenities on sites like Expedia and Booking.com.

It's not just a view that will make or break your hotel or resort stay - it's the room itself too! Some rooms are just ok, some are old and need a refresh...but some are just perfect and luxurious and will make you feel sooo special!

This room at the Secrets Bahia Mita is probably my favourite that I've stayed in to date. I wouldn't change a single thing!

This trip was a special one too, I got to show my mom a little bit of my travel world! We sipped our coffee, explored resorts from top to bottom, took long beach walks and explored nearby towns.

These 5 are a must, no matter where Karen is going (and they’ll definitely come in handy for you, too): 1️⃣ If I'm heading to a resort...I'm bringing a floatie. And I don't go without my inflatable pool hammock - best invention ever! 2️⃣ I need to follow my own advice here...and get unique luggage...say no to black. Also...airlines are getting more and more strict about luggage sizing...so consider yourself warned! 3️⃣ A portable charger. Outlets don't always work on the plane and if you're out exploring you don't want to run out of juice to take those great pictures...or to get yourself an uber back to your hotel! 4️⃣ Travel Cubes! Pack better! And label one DIRTY...because you know you don't want those dirties touching anything else... 5️⃣ A portable CO2 detector. Yes I really do bring this. Standards aren't the same around the world. Remove the batteries and bring them with you, set it up away from the AC or fans in your hotel room...sleep soundly. Bonus: I always pack Fisherman's Friend lozenges - they last long for those dry flights and act like a breath freshner, throat lozenge all in one.
