Had a lovely couple of days with Burgess Tours again this year! Linda and Doug sure know how to host a group…what fun! And the group was so engaged. We even had the privilege of seeing Come From Away with them! I often say that one of the best things about being a tour guide is getting to meet so many great people. It’s a bonus when they become friends!

It’s that time!! Tour season has begun! And it’s shaping up to be a busy summer. If you or someone you know is looking for a tour of the Gander International Airport, I’m your tour guide. My 30+ years of working at the airport gives me the knowledge to offer a unique tour. I’m a storytelling tour guide, and I especially love to share the story of how the day unfolded at the airport on September 11th, 2001. I also offer various tours of Gander. Well it’s been quite a summer! I’ve once again had the privilege of providing tours for folks from all over the world. I’ve been doing this a long time, but I’m always amazed at how interested people are in hearing the stories of this place I call home. While I love storytelling and interpreting, I just as much love meeting people and hearing a small piece of their stories. Their gracious compliments at the end of the tours are so appreciated and not taken for granted. While I’m so busy talking during my tours, I usually forget to ask to take a photo for my page. I did manage to take a few this year, and some shared theirs with me. Here are just a few of the fine folks I had the opportunity to hang out with for an hour or so this summer.

I’d like to introduce Katerina Lane…now that she is officially joining the tour guide team! Yes, she’s my daughter, so she has been around the tour guide business her entire life. She has experience in providing tours of Gander, and has a true sense of pride for her hometown. Katerina is a recent graduate from MUN’s Grenfell Campus with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre Arts. I’m excited to have her join me as we host visitors this year!

MY TOURS ARE BACK!! And I’m so excited to host visitors again! Tourism certainly took a hit with Covid, and, with so many restrictions, I had to push pause on my tour offerings. I’m delighted to finally be able to resume my tours. If you, or someone you know, is looking for a tour of Gander, a 9/11 tour, a walking tour, or just an airport tour, please touch base with me. Our town has some new offerings over the past couple of years that I’m excited to highlight and interpret.
