BC Place was originally built for Expo '86 in 1983 and was the largest event facility of its kind in the province.
The first major event was the North American Soccer League game, and it was held the next day after they opened June 19, 1983.
At that time, the most iconic feature of BC Place was the air-supported dome roof.
They even filmed the installation.
However, it had issues with snow, and was replaced in 2010-2011 for the winter Olympic game.
Yet after the roof was renewed, it has the advanced feature of a retractable roof..
