I’m alive!! lol. But seriously - I’m not gone, I promise.

However, I am on a medically ordered break from work…. and detoxing from meds that are apparently as fun as trying to come off he**in? Dude - why??! Malarkey, but I digress…

My autoimmune trifecta is tricky maze to navigate, but I’ve always persevered, worked harder, ignored pain, even if it got to last minute I would always get it done. That superpower of mine, has disappeared, and I want off the rollercoaster!

Fascinating fact: almost 30 years of undiagnosed celiac leaves damage, we all know that. But here is something I didn’t consider, mine means I don’t ever absorb medication the same each month, week or even day. So when my drs want to offset one of my major symptoms - one day it can have full effect, the very same conditions, the next day doesn’t work at all 😵‍💫And everything in between - told you I was a unicorn 🦄

So against standard medical practice/knowledge (and I’m medically supervised!) I’m flushing it all at once, cold turkey because it *can’t* work for me. Dr actually told me to drink wine to cope, as it was gonna suck 🤪 And I hadn’t even had a drink in over a month lol.

Chasing health is a tricky thing, more for my autoimmune crew than most. I see you fellow unicorns ♥️

Spain is still on and I am SO excited to spa, eat and explore with the fun crew! My clients travelling this summer, you are the only ones who get to stay on the docket for now (I negotiated with the drs lol).

I’m so freaking excited to feel better, weeks away at most! I also had to make some staff changes, but oh man - just wait until you learn of the upgrade (my fellow travel agents are gonna be SUPER jealous, likely the best hire of my adult life - that’s all you get for now, ha!).

So, this took me almost 2 hours to write - and for those that have seen me type, this slo-mo is 🤦‍♀️ I can’t see/read or focus well at the moment, but it’s coming! And improving!

Time to build something bigger that can run without me being the linchpin solo. ♥️

***YES, I know I overshare. I won’t stop either, ha. Why? Because if even one other unicorn feels slightly better and less alone in this bonkers journey which is often solo, I’ll take that as the win every single time. 😘

Rachel - where the bleepty blap did you go?! lol

I’m working. Every single day, promise 😉

14 year old senior dog adoption, my sons provincial championship gold medal season (winners!!), more old dogs, insane bunny cake (I let the Stewart boys decorate this year)!

Work: new Barcelona foodie tour - YES - we are doing it with the Spain group! Lots of clients having AMAZING trips, and GF paradise. A few, arrived and felt struggle. I’ve never felt so Marvel level in my life - I go “Karen” level ALL the way up anyand every chain. YOU. WILL. TAKE. CARE. OF. MY. CELIAC. TRAVELLERS. are okay sometimes 😉

I had to change some medications (lottery winner - with 3 autoimmunes!), and I may have some bonkers reactions, ha. But things are good. I’m so close with my team to being full scale and caught up!

Just a few: Custom family private dinner menus in Greece underway, Hawaii and Australia honeymoon, countless restaurant reservations - my job is to take the pressure OFF!

I’ll be travelling again next week… prepare for some beachy envy. But first, I’ll map all the cruise ports, help those with Christmas and all the details outstanding. I’ll open up to new trip planning and clients when I’m back.

I LOVE planning vacations!
I LOVE helping celiacs travel!
I LOVE making a work environment where mental health and personal lives matter, more than the dollar. Always.

I just need to adjust the workload, it happens. I have the pleasure of working with absolutely AMAZING fellow agents. So I need to lean into them, and I will. Transferring all the years of my celiac travel knowledge and setting them up, worth every minute. For our clients too 😉

Stay tuned for the new details and systems! Jason will handle all the cruises. Jeni, Sarah, Sabrina and Crystal will handle the all inclusives. Lindsay will handle the clients from BC (Mexico all day!). Ellie will handle our luxury retirement travel.

For ALL the celiacs - I will always be 100% the escalation, the person you text with issues, your pre travel chat/prep and the guide for my team for all your planning. Flaming sword too - if needed 😉 momma bear style, lol.

What will I be doing??
- changing the industry, for us all
- making groups so we get deals and awesome travel
- doing all the Europe and custom itineraries (I love the crazy details!)
- every tight budget, and or high anxiety celiac clients - those are my people, and mine to help too ♥️

This will give me space. To help MORE, to teach and train. And to account for my own unicorn health status, without having service levels drop.

Walking the beach taking pictures of gorgeously burnt AND perfect driftwood - reminds me the balance can be what you make it. It is beautiful.

Cheers to our mental health, chronic illnesses, empathy, disabilities, and our capacity to help, despite those. We’re awesome!

Happy birthday daddy. You left us 3 years ago this May. Today is your birthday, you would have been 74.

All my funnies - I get from you ♥️ I promise I’ll figure out this clients vs life balance. I’m not taking anyone new until I have everyone set.

I’m lowering my stress and my expectations. Kids get sick, and so do I. Probably more than we should 🙂

I miss the oldies sing a longs, the absolutely silly humour, the kindness. There has never been a family like you. Not before - and not since.

I have no family without you - they all disappeared. But it turned out for the best. I have my bear and our 3 boys, plus amazing friends. Honestly more than I could hope for. A super full life.

Today instead of just coping - I enjoyed the sunshine and great people around me. I worked all weekend and will keep going.

Because - I’m not broken. I’m awesome, just a little behind due to life. But for the first time in forever, I don’t feel a horrible loss. Just happiness, and the ability to get down to my work planning with awesome travellers.

Thanks for always being the fun and laughs dad - it meant way more than you could ever know. It’s held me up, and been the warm hug - those things I’ve needed.

Happy heavenly birthday daddy. Still your baby girl at 43, lol.

Happy Friday!! Like…finally, lol.

My boys are good! The flu has finally left my house! (Be gone foul germs, laundry is NOT MY ideal pastime 🤪) My team is at full capacity - woo woo!

So let’s talk about FUN news :) I’m currently working with clients on Europe, South America, Hawaii, all inclusive getaways - fun! Pictures below of some of the amazing places we planned for them - more to come!

Rooms are booking up for Spain ♥️🇪🇸 Oh man, I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to host a trip - we have the BEST folks coming. Including a member of the Professional Advisory Council for Celiac Canada 👀….details I’ll share soon ;) We have some rooms left - don’t miss out!

I’ll be working this weekend to catch up for the lost days, but will still make room for family time.

Not a travel or celiac post. Kinda.

One of my beautiful children has been struggling with their mental health. It reached a fever pitch this week.

I had to walk away from work for a few days. And I may have to again.

I “accidentally” blew up this year in the celiac travel world. Our little celiac beach reviews group got to 17K member in under a year 👀. There is a massive need for celiac travel knowledge!! SO amazing. It brings my heart so much joy to help my fellow celiacs travel well.

But - my kids come before business. Always. And - I’m a workaholic, I’m so passionate about my business - I get carried away trying to help EVERYONE.

So I’m reigning in my hours. It will be 9-5 m-f going forward, full stop. That makes me anxious and twitchy if I’m honest. I’m going to have to say no a lot more, to helping - friends - that’s you too. You love me already so I know you understand!

I’ve never been in this for the money or to build a big empire. Helping feels good, and it makes me feel whole. However, I have to help my family first.

So - we will still work together! But I have to scale down my new client intake. I have other agents training up - but this can take time. I refuse to throw any of them under the bus unprepared. And my fellow celiacs deserve proper and full service.

Myself and my business partner Jason will work on how best to triage this, but for now, thank you for your patience.

Spain is a go! I’m working through all the custom Europe itineraries, cruises and the all inclusives.

Scaling and growing is always tricky. So - we’re going to slow it down and remember that OUR business is service, not sales.

Updates and fun travel stuff to come. But after 5 - I’ll be doing puzzles, going to waterpolo, baking and putting as much into my kids as I do this wonderful celiac travel world.

😥Blerg - I got the “drop you dead” flu for the 4 days leading up to travel. I was ***THIS*** close to having everyone’s quotes/bookings done BEFORE I left. Had to be wifi & work behind the scenes all. Still awesome though!

🙌🏻 Got a new EA in September- Whoot! Months of training for January “busiest season” 👀- I’m ready for you this time!
😥 Blerg - she found her dream job in her previous field (no bad vibes here!) - but emailed me late on Sunday January the 7th - she wouldn’t be in, in the morning…

🙌🏻 Jan 9th is my hookie day! Mine & my son Ronan’s bday - we’ve taken it off every year to go do fun stuff together ♥️
😥 Blerg - Admin help disappearing instantly, made me have to convince my sweet boy we’d do a rain check. That hurt, in the mom & birthday feels.

🙌🏻 Hustle, hustle, hustle! Got it! Former AMAZING Admin who is a full travel agent came to join. Thank you SERENDIPITY!! 😭
♥️ My amazing Jeni got the “drop you dead flu” for all of her week 2. Can you even write this kind of stuff?! She’s doing better & THAT is all that matters.

🙌🏻 Turned on fun new “live voicemail” in December - cool, I can catch more if I’m jumping off the phone - less phone tag - yay!
😥 Reality - it turned off my actual carrier voicemail. AND had a glitch that wouldn’t save them. Was Apple trying to make me lose my mind! So - they’ve all been going to?… I’ve re-recorded my voicemail message 6 times since … Lordy. lol

There are a million behind the scenes things - flights & storm issues, advocating for clients in destination, medical emergencies with my kids. They come first.

If you had to wait - I will happily refund your planning fees AND still plan with you, 100% your choice!

But my Kristos…. I cannot control the world around me. I can control my effort, my attitude, my kindness, & my work ethic.

Now? I’m not saying sorry, things beyond my control, are just that.

It’s my birthday!! Same for my youngest ♥️

I’m level 43 today. Levelling up every year ;)

I take my birthday as time to reflect on the last year. Many many highs, and many many lows. My dream job, family and my health have steered me to amazing AND hard things.

MY BIGGEST HIGHS?
- we retired my mother in law :)
- my 14 year old plays at national level for waterpolo (what?!)
- my fellas bring me ALL the joy (and some sprinkled outrage lol) all year long!
- celiac travel IS REAL!! And huge!
- I’ve collected great humans to work with (I am super duper proud of this!)

Lows? There are many - my health, my anxiety, staff turnover (life happens!), burnout - blah.

The biggest one? The massive anxiety of having my clients waiting on me due to health or circumstances beyond my control. I NEED you to know it has driven me batty!!

But this year, I’ll take on fewer clients, focus on those who need me most. Have a team to share the workload and all the awesome highs.

Balance is elusive. So is always chasing physical betterment.

So this year, I’m chasing health - my own. And making way for all the good people. There are truly so many ♥️

Here’s a highlight reel, as the year was awesome! Sprinkled with a few reality ones to keep it honest ;)

- sharing happiness and kindness - it’s free!
- taking control of my health (not waistline, hair or beauty aspects - chasing my actual health!)
- working smarter, not harder
- saying “no” out loud. So freaking hard!! lol
- advocating for myself, my clients and changing the world of dietary restrictions and travel

I’ve still been working long hours over the holidays. I have some clients waiting and I WILL be back to them tomorrow!

Travellers in destination had to come first ♥️ got them all set!

And in full mom voice “To the very few salty MFers who try to rake MY agents over the coals for things WAY outside of their possible control - I will personally shut you down. I will help - always, I bend heaven and earth for clients, every single day. However, verbal abuse won’t be accepted. I’m momma bear and - they are mine. You are welcome to leave a bad review - my clients and everyone who really knows me knows my ethics DO NOT FLEX.”

Mentally - I am a juggernaut. Physically, I suck, autoimmunes rule that world, ha. But I don’t have quit in me, I never have.

So - make the world better with small acts. Check your tone when you feel like venting - imagine it was someone you love, and reposition. Your health is THE most important thing you have, cherish it - we only get 1 shot.

A very Merry Christmas to all!

My fellow celiacs will giggle with me on this. My boys live in a fully gluten free house, for me - absolutely nothing comes inside. They are muggles, and can eat ALL the gluten. I’m the only unicorn

So…. Christmas not at home? That gave me the idea…..I put two bags of that cake-like Italian bread in a gift bag for each - look at those faces 🤣 They are jazzed for their “all the gluten” present. I am beyond excited for my entirely gluten free family Christmas dinner ♥️😍

Celiac Beach - inaugural group trip! Being honest: it’s currently raining lol.

BUT… so much fun travelling with friends new and old 🙂 I’ve put together a custom group private dinner- just for us tomorrow! 👀 all will be gluten free, all will be delicious 🤤 let me see how many non-celiacs I can have love the meal!

Flu before travel is… the WORST! Bright side - I got to get better on a beach chair. Jason, Dionne and Sarah have been on TOP OF IT!

Spain trip still has some spots - I’m extending the bonus deposit deadline to December 22nd - because fighting wifi in Cancun is not my jam at the moment lol.

Going to discuss the menu tomorrow with the chefs. What would you have if you have never been able to eat off a buffet or skip talking about dietary restrictions???

FEELING BETTER!! Huzzah! I just had amazing clients come back from Europe on a trip I planned them. Hotel, flights, tours and ALL the food!

Some tricks I do to stretch and maximize a budget and experience. I flew them into Dublin, stayed 2 nights (ate their way around glorious temple bar!). THEN did a hopper flight to get them to start their trip in Spain. Seville, Barcelona and a mind blowing staying in an adults only spa resort in Costa Brava.

We turned what would have been a basic 2 city Spain trip in mid range corporate hotels - into a glorious 2 country trip with stunning and unique hotels! All by adding on Dublin because it saved thousands on the flights for their dates.

To give a couple a dreamy long awaited anniversary UNDER their budget and WAY above their expectations - well, my heart is full ♥️

This right here is why I do it!

Feeling better - working this weekend to catch up in this glorious fall weather! AND some humongous exciting and life changing news for our team next week. I’ve got a grin plastered to my face. Stay tuned 😘
