Packing Tip of the Day: Don’t leave empty spaces in the boxes. Fill in gaps with clothing, towels, or packing paper. These will prevent boxes from being unbalanced, which will help to ensure a smoother move.

Moving expensive art? Never wrap oil paintings in regular paper; it will stick. For pictures framed behind glass, make an X with masking tape across the glass to strengthen it and to hold it together if it shatters. Then wrap the pictures in paper or bubble wrap and put them in a frame box, with a piece of cardboard between each framed piece for protection. We'll use special crating to make sure your work of art arrives home in excellent condition.

Moving TIP #6: Keep a bag of essentials with you
The night before your big move, keep your everyday essentials, like medications, tooth brush, paperwork, a few toys for the kids and a change of clothes in a bag you'll keep with you during the move. Should something happen, worst case, you'll have this bag of essentials with you.

Moving TIP #5: Schedule utilities for your new place
Once dates are confirmed, contact your utility providers to schedule service at your new place. This includes, electricity, water, and internet. Schedule services to be turned on ahead of time and keep records in your moving notebook.

At the same time, record your last meter reading at your current place, and be sure to call in your last meter readings to your utility providers.

Collect all of your moving related information around your existing place and new place, in one notebook. Include the new address information, the moving agreement, rental or purchase paperwork, and any other important information. You can even use this notebook or categorize your moving boxes so that when you arrive at your new place, you know what is in each box.
