Island Ceremonies

Island Ceremonies I craft meaningful wedding or vow renewal ceremonies for couples who want something unique.

I love meeting couples "in love"; basking in the glow of their joyful energy, as we co-create their perfect wedding ceremony. I love to make a difference in the lives of others and from the moment I learned about becoming a Professional Certified Life Cycle Celebrant, I knew that all of my life experience has led me to this glorious work. I create ceremonies from a spiritual mindset, and your cere

mony can be lighthearted, warm, short and sweet, complex and filled with ritual, honoring of your cultural heritages and/or any combination of whatever your hearts desire. I have created themed ceremonies, same s*x ceremonies, elopements and vow renewals and I am open to all people, all cultures and all faiths. With me at Island Ceremonies, you have a safe place to share your stories. I will joyfully and gently guide you through the process; hopefully alleviating some of the stress of planning your big day! Victoria is my home and I have built relationships with other wedding vendors. If you are coming from afar, I can provide you with a list of my favorite indoor/outdoor venues, florists, photographers, cake decorators, musicians, caterers and can even provide witnesses. Here on beautiful Vancouver Island, we have our own brand of West coast spirituality and combined with the beauty of the land around us, we can create magic.

I'm volunteering along with other Vancouver Island Celebrants at a wedding event on Valentines Day at the Victoria Public Market. Multiple couples will be getting married, in one of four themed private pop-up style wedding chapels followed by a big dance party. Check it out if you are looking for an alternative to a costly formal wedding. And all proceeds go to the Help Fill A Dream Foundation.

I had the great pleasure of marrying my very good friend Anne-Marie to her soulmate John at a very cool little event center in Vernon. The day started with a few sprinkles of rain that cleared the energy for their union and we celebrated into the night with beautiful heartfelt speeches, a lot of laughter, happy tears and dancing the night away. Blessed be... my heart is full and I love my job!

I performed a lovely wedding ceremony for Ben and Alycia today, on the beach under sunny skies at the Beach House in Cordova Bay. They finalized the ceremony with a percussion unity circle. The wedding party and all of the guests (myself included) participated. Loved it!

I had the pleasure of assisting another loving couple tie the knot yesterday at the library at the Empress hotel overlooking the inner harbour. The ceremony ended with a tequila shot with a twist. First of all their friend hand made beautiful pottery shot glasses for the occasion, and the twist was instead of salt and lime, the accoutrements were cinnamon and orange. Their photographer and I were invited to share in the festivities and I left feeling so much appreciation for the work I get to do.

I had the pleasure of performing the marriage of Pete’s niece Vanessa to her love, Andrew at their home in James Bay. It was a short and sweet ceremony with close family in attendance and their beloved dog Jude (decked out in a shirt collar and tie) acted as ring bearer. Blessed be....✨✨

Ryan and Brittany said "I do" at Sea Cider on Sunday. The forest was to be their ceremony site however Mother Nature had other plans and we moved indoors. Rain represents many things in different cultures – most of which include fertility, cleansing, unity & renewal. And a knot that becomes wet is extremely hard to untie, therefore when you “tie the knot” on a rainy day, your marriage is supposedly just as hard to unravel! And if you are really lucky a rainbow will decorate the sky.

Danee and Chris celebrated their union today on a rocky outcrop near their home. The bride processed "Italian Style" in a processional march down their street to the ceremony site with all their guests. It was a lovey sight to behold.

Julie and Anita came all the way from New Mexico to marry at Kildara Farms. Close friends joined them as they tied the knot. The theme for their decor was the book "To Kill a Mockingbird" and guests received 2 Indian head wishing pennies as gifts.

Simple and sweet micro elopement ceremony in a lovely little park in Oak Bay. No frills, I provided the witnesses and it was complete in 5 minutes. I must say though....it was one of the most heartfelt ceremonies I've done. The energy of their love was huge and we were all transported into their sacred love bubble. ✨❤️✨

My most elaborate wedding to date was performed for Maricel and Thomas at the stunning St. Ann's Academy in the fall of 2015. Twenty person bridal party and many traditional Phillipino rituals including donning of the veil and binding of the cord, unity candle, readings from various family members and the exchange of an arrhae. Spectacular! Photographer Jesse Holland captured the day.

Spring 2016 - Autumn and Shannon got married surrounded by close friends and family at Saxe Point. There was a chill in the air but we were all warmed by the love surrounding this lovely couple and their blended family. Guests offered sage words of wisdom as part of the ceremony and Autumn's young son chattered and ran around joyfully, but no one cared, because that's life with little people, right?

Summer 2015 - I had the ultimate honor of marrying my best friend Kellie to her true love, Don in an intimate ceremony at her Mom's bedside. Photos were taken by Nina Bukovac and we finished the day with a surprise "Guess what....we got married!" announcement at dinner surrounded by family and friends at the Malahat Chalet.

I had such fun performing a Wiccan ceremony for Angie and Chris at Craigdarroch Castle. We called in the four elements, performed a hand fasting and the bride and groom jumped the broom as the grand finale. Bride and Groom and honored guests were decked out in period costumes and with the castle as a backdrop, it was like stepping back in time.

I had the honor of marrying Brandi and Alex on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean at Point No Point. Lucy the dog was the flower girl and the sun came out through the rain and fog as if it was choreographed by the gods. The bride and groom chose a beautiful hand fasting cord to symbolize their union and we finished the ceremony with everyone tossing a love infused pebble into the water below.
