I just don’t recommend vacation experiences to you; I recommend the vacation experiences that I have already explored myself! My personal experience(s) ensures tailored advice and recommendations based on an in-depth knowledge of the place. 🌍

By the end of the year, I will have been on more than 50 cruises (Seabourn; Viking River; Disney; Celebrity; Princess; Royal Caribbean; Norwegian; MSC; Carnival just to name a few); I have travelled as far Egypt to Australia to Europe. I am also a diver and have experienced the best destinations world-wide. As well as cruising, I have experienced everything from all-inclusive to stand-alone land vacations to multiple road trips (so the best of land and sea). ✈️🚢🌴🚗

Travel Tip Tuesday!

Why use a travel advisor (TA)? ✈️🌍😎🚢

Great question and below are a few examples as to WHY to use TA's:

- No hidden fees. Fees are applicable when booking air only (we do not get commission for flights only) and they are called "air admin fees" 💰
- You pay the exact same direct to a travel provider (i.e. cruise, all inclusive, etc.) as you do booking through a TA (the travel provider pays us a commission, you do not) 👏
- Should there be any issues or if you wish certain amenities, a TA deals with that for you (less stress on you) ☎️👨‍💻
- Agencies can have group or member rates which tends to be lower prices than you can get direct with a travel provider (i.e. cruises) 🙌
- Agencies can also have access to extra amenities when booking with a TA (i.e. onboard credit) 🍾
- Booking through a TA, should the price of your i.e. cruise decrease, we are on top of that for you 💵💵

Over all, travel advisors make your vacation planning stress free at no additional cost.

Let’s discuss the benefits of cruise group bookings.

Is it less expensive to book a cruise with a group? YES!

If you decide to book a cruise with a group, you can book a certain number of cabins for a specific rate which would be readily available at the lowest price than what you had to pay if you booked the cabins separately. A cruise line considers a group to be at least 8 cabins at double occupancy (some cruise lines are more).

What are the perks of booking a cruise with a group?

Besides the advantage of saving a good amount of money, many cruise lines offer certain exclusive amenities for groups making it a value-for-money option. Two of those options are below:

Free cabin(s)! When traveling in groups, most cruise lines offer a free cruise fare (tour conductor credit - TC) for at least one individual if a certain number of cabins are reserved. This is a great option for a “Pied Piper” (the leader of the group) who wishes to organize a group of people to cruise together.

On-board credit! On-board credit is free money that allows you to utilize it in i.e. spas, bars, shops, and other venues onboard. Hence, it acts as an extra financial credit that groups receive on their shipboard account. This amount will get automatically deducted from the final bill of purchase

Going to a foreign country?

Learn basic phrases. Familiarize yourself with a few local phrases. It shows respect and helps you connect with locals. Bathroom, please, thank you, check please are just a few essential phrases to learn for different countries.

Learn basic customs. A faux pas from our vacation in Australia last year, we knew they drove on the opposite side of the road, lefthand side, we did not realize they also walk on the lefthand side. We finally realized it 2 days later. No wonder people were "looking" at us. (🙈)

Travel Tip Tuesday!

Any hidden fees when I book with you? This question comes in waves and it’s been asked a lot as of late, so…. Let’s talk about it!

In the early days I decided full transparency was going to be my philosophy… 100%. And, with each travel professional who has come aboard, that has been their upmost priority as well.

No matter if you are booking with Ashley or myself on the East Coast, or with Dan or Chad on the West Coast, our commitment to honest practices ALWAYS remains the same.

We always include all taxes and port fees.

We always state if flight is included, and the price always includes all taxes associated.

We always state if beverages are included- and if they are, we always include the service fees associated.

We also CHOOSE to NOT CHARGE service fees for booking Cruise vacations. When you book with East Coast Cruisers, West Coast Cruisers, Dan or Ashley, you are booking DIRECTLY with the cruise line. We hold NO MONEY.

We always post in Canadian dollars, unless it clearly states USD.
The only fee NOT included, unless they are being offered on a promotion by the cruise line, is Daily Gratuities. These are charged per day, after boarding the ship. WHY? Because if you have a problem with service it can be addressed before the next day payment is charged to your account. This is a cruise line policy, and we think it’s great. (Although you can choose to pay in advance if you wish to.)

Travel Tip Tuesdays!

Whether you are travelling on the road, by plane, or on a cruise ship, it is very important to not only travel with your prescribed meds, but to also travel with over the counter meds.

Why you ask? Ever get a cold in a foreign country and had issues trying to find a pharmacy and then try to figure out what is written on the boxes (foreign languages). As well, on cruise ships, items like these are expensive and they do not carry an unlimited supply (so might run out) or carry what you need.

My wife dedicates a 1 L Ziploc bag for all our over the counter medication. She buys the smalls package possible such as Tylenol; night time and day time cold meds; after bite; small can of Off; after sun lotion; polyisoprene; etc. Keep everything in the original bottles/packages just in case the customs questions anything.

Travel tip #5:

A few years ago, we purchased this plug-in cooler for the car as we’ve also been road tripping. Best investment we ever made!

Example, the little town we drove into last night to stay in, all restaurants closed at 6 PM and we didn’t get here until 7:30 PM. If we did not have our cooler full of items to make a dinner, we wouldn’t have had anything to eat. This scenario happens more times than one would expect.

Tip #4:

Today, we will talk about the lack of plugs in hotels and on cruise ships (especially cruise ships). We find that cruise ships seem to have 1 plug by the bed and 1 plug by the vanity and that is usually it. With people travelling with multiple cell phones, computers, iPads, etc., you need multiple plugs. We travel with this type of USB Wall Charger. Plug it in by the bed and both of you can use it (we slip one long iPhone charger cable behind the head of the bed to reach the other side).

Travel Tip #2 for the day as we are packing for our road trip.

As we head on our road trip to Vegas, we find that some of the hotels do not have a coffee maker in the room and it’s nice waking up to a cuppa instead of getting dressed, heading to a restaurant and waiting for your caffeine. As well, a coffee/tea is Vegas, well, you might as well mortgage the house!

Last year, we purchased a collapsible kettle and a single cup Keurig machine (I need my Keurig!) As I like to buy coffee from around the world, I purchased the reusable K-cup filters to use in my Keurig machine whether I am travelling or at home. NOTE – you cannot bring these onboard a cruise ship.

As we have 48 cruises under the ole sea belt, we have learned a few tips and tricks. Periodically I will share with you what they are and if purchase is required, I will direct you to Amazon.

The first tip and trick - not enough storage in the cabin! Sometimes it's great to have more hanging space. We have been using magnetic hooks to hang up i.e. wet bathing suits; bags; hats; sunglasses; etc. As the walls, and ceiling, in the cabins are metal, the hooks can attach anywhere.
