Momma Mar and I took a Tasty Road Trip today for Mothers Day. We had such fun exploring Brantford and Paris. Spicy Jan started us off at the Brantford Market, where we were spoiled with treats and tastes galore! Next to Old World Market for some exploring and tea. the Chinese sisters had us moaning over their wonton soup and noodle dish. Our kitchen Brantford with sooo many delicious samples ! Onto the winces mills co for a couple more treats at Flower Power Bakery and La Trenza Tacos - that Guacamole!!!! Our last stop was Cheesecake on the Go for some creme brûlée!!!We ate our way across Brant county! Loved experiencing these hidden gems. We loved our Riverboat Cruise with AmaWaterways Checking in on a Riverboat is not the same experience as check in on a Cruiseship. There are no long lines and no embarking times. You just walk in, and they show you to your room. Here’s our room, we requested separated beds and they were ready for us upon arrival. Ama has this great balcony option called the double balcony. One is a traditional balcony, you can sit out on. The other has a French door set up with 2 chairs, enclosed. You can get fresh air, or just watch out the window if it’s a bit chilly. The bathroom was the right size for one person. Great storage areas, a closet, mini fridge, safe and entertainment system. Our last night in Paris, we dined at Chez Andre. Just a couple blocks from the Champs Élysées, Chez Andre was pretty unassuming, other than the line up to get in. We scored the last table for 2 without a reservation. Mel had been on the look out for traditional French Onion Soup, and Andre delivered. Check out that cheese pull. Freaking delicious. Followed by crème brûlée for Mel and fresh profiteroles for me, puff pastry with Icecream inside, drenched in chocolate.Whew! We rolled back to the hotel after this meal. A word of advice:🥖 There are a million restaurants and brasseries in Paris. All of them are expensive. Check the reviews and look at menus. 🥖 There are lots of lists out the of the best restaurants in each area. If you plan to dine at one you MUST make a reservation. 🥖 If you want some snacks for your hotel or to picnic with, there are many parks and green spaces to lounge in. The French use these spaces often and well. The Monoprix or Framprix stores in Paris a great grocery stores to pick up premade dishes, snacks and $5 bottles of wine. We picked up chips, wine, cheese and meat sticks for our room. 🥖 Try the cuisine. Stop often for small bites. Potatoes, ham, bechamel sauce and raclette, grilled in a portable wrap. 10/10. The shop is small and sells mostly cheese with the exception of this wrap. The truth about the Eiffel Tower. It’s a must see when you’re in Paris. There are a million people wanting to see it. There are line ups to get into the grounds and tickets to go up the tower sell out in advance. With the Olympics coming in a matter of months, there is added construction everywhere. My recommendation to see the Iron Lady.🥖 Champ De Mar, it’s a great view point, there are still crowds, but no line ups. Beware of pick pockets in this area.🥖 Rue De University. Around the corner from the Tower, perfect spot to stop for a shot and move on. Loved seeing the Tower. But sad that it’s a mad house down there! We saw a lot today in Paris. If you’re looking for a reel about the monuments and history….. sorry. Trigger warning. If you are hungry don’t watch this. The food in Paris is the most beautiful thing we saw today. We found La Maison Le Gourmet in the Opera district. 6 levels of food, restaurants, groceries, tableware and prepared food. We enjoyed a Croque Monsieur in the market. An almond croissant and hazelnut macaroon across from Notre Dame and stopped for a drink in St Germaine. Now back in our room with cheese, meat and wine.
