I always have the hardest time figuring out what to write as a caption, feeling pressure to come up with something really insightful or inspiring. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what I really want to say about this one is short and sweet. I love photographing these two. They are kind, and hilarious and (obviously) incredibly attractive. But the best part - is the way they love each other, and how they let nothing stand in the way of enjoying every single second of their wedding day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was truly refreshing to experience and I will be forever grateful I got to be apart of it.

I hope you enjoy cute photos of happy people, and talking about wine, pizza and all the dogs. If none of those things appeal to you....you may be in the wrong place.

✨Where do you find inspiration: Often from art, or from other creative fields like fashion, music or film. Sometimes from meeting someone new, or exploring a new place.
✨What did you want to be when you grew up? A pharmacist (🤣)

✨Weekend hobby: reading all the books and drinking all the wine

Do you miss hugging your family? Hanging out with your friends? Or even just the ease of shaking hands when you meet someone new?

That loss of connection with friends and clients is definitely one of the things I’m missing the most. My heart breaks for all the brides and grooms having to reschedule their big days, for the mommas who can't get photos of their brand new born babies and for the families who cant celebrate these huge milestones together. I know one day, we'll be on the other side of this and hopefully we'll have learned to appreciate how truly special these moments are. In the words of the queen Jennifer van Son Photography "I believe we've been taking each other for granted, and when we return to the world, we will honour gatherings in a brand new way."

I cant wait for that day 💕

For the last few months (before we'd ever heard of the term ) - I had a pretty steady schedule of newborn shoots on the books. Since all weddings and events have been postponed, and work in general has come to a grinding halt - there's about to be a lot of cute baby content up in here! If you're as excited as I am - say I 🙋🏼‍♀️

My best friend had her first baby a few weeks ago (yay)! But since we're smack dab in the middle of a pandemic it could be awhile before I actually get to meet him. So while the whole world is on lockdown - I'll be anxiously waiting to tickle those sweet little baby toes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
told me she was pregnant like....4 days after she found out herself (we're not good at the secret keeping) and I was counting down the days to his arrival ever since. In the coming weeks, please brace yourselves for an onslaught of the worlds cutest baby photos (when we're finally allowed out of the house, that is)

Things I've learned about myself while being stuck inside during Social Distancing:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. That list of things I swore I would do "when I had more time" is really just a list of things I plan to avoid forever
2. Even when cooking is the only interesting thing to do - I still don't like it
3. I can revert back to my teenage sleeping patterns faster than I thought physically possible
4. As busy and overwhelming as my job can be at times - I miss it the moment I'm told I'm not allowed to do it

Right now I would give anything to be photographing my best friends new born baby, or a close friends wedding that had to be postponed. I'd also really like to be able to go to the grocery store without panic sweating - is that too much to ask?

I work a lot. Too much, most likely. Under normal circumstances its the thing that pulls my focus the most. But when the world as you know it essentially stops....I learned pretty quick that my job falls much lower on the list of concerns when the safety of the people I love most is on the line. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All last week, I was full of anxiety and sadness. Unable to stop reading every single piece of news I saw related to whats going on (the worst idea ever, dont recommend). I felt a little lost, a little like a chicken with its head chopped off. But in the few moments of peace I was granted I realized that after months of a crazy work schedule, and feeling like I didn't have a moment to myself - I was now swimming in nothing but (self isolated) time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Time to hang out with my family, to read, write or take an online course. To clean or....do my taxes (ugh). We've been given a rare and special opportunity in the midst of this chaos, and if we can set aside our anxieties for a minute we can create space for some pretty incredible memories with the people we care about the most.

This beautiful lady was tearing up the dance floor all 👏🏻 night 👏🏻 long 👏🏻. Her energy and infectious smile made it impossible to keep our eyes - or camera off of her - so we didn’t.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Shortly after this evening, she passed away - it broke my heart to hear the news, but being able to send her family these images reminded me why what we as photographers do is so SO important.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s not just about capturing the perfectly framed shot of the gorgeous dress, or the flowers or that long awaited first kiss as husband and wife. It’s about pressing pause on your most important moments so you can relive them again and again. It’s about freezing time and capturing your favourite people in a carefree moment (weather or not that’s fuelled by the open bar). Its about preserving memories and creating tangible pieces of history that can be passed on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did that sounds too dramatic? Simply put - yes its your wedding day and that is AWESOME. But lets try not to get so caught up in all the perfectly planned details that you miss out on the perfect unplanned moments you may not get the chance to experience again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Hey! Remember me? Its been awhile.

I took a little break to recharge and meet 2020 with a fire that quite frankly - I'd lost a little bit at the end of last year. Owning a business is hard, and if you're like me - deeply personal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This means alot of emotional output, that can be super draining - but also so incredibly rewarding. I love my clients like close friends - and even on the hardest days, when I really get down to it, I wouldn't trade that connection for anything. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So heres to a new year, new connections, and 12 months of new opportunities. I plan to fully take advantage of every single one 😉
