It is a protected area found in the Caribbean region. The site consists of seven pools, which flow into the Caribbean Sea near Linvingston. It is surrounded by a forest which hides the seashore. Siete Altares is a tourist site declared a World Heritage Site on May 18, 2001.

This beautiful tourist site is located approximately 3 kilometers from the urban area of ​​the municipality. It is made up of a series of waterfalls and natural pools of fresh water. In addition, it has beautiful vegetation in the surroundings.

Siete Altares is located near the Bay of Amatique. It is a protected area, therefore hunting is prohibited. In fact, there is a large community of crabs, butterflies - and fish - that all benefit from the place.

It is known that it was previously a Garífuna ceremonial center and originally it was simply called Los Altares. Currently its name originates from the 7 waterfalls that exist in the place. Although there are many more, there are seven of the best known and most prominent in the area.

The surrounding population believed that the waters of the site had medicinal powers. Those who suffered from unexplained illnesses flocked to Seven Altars in an attempt to heal their bodies.

This place is ideal for walks, picnics and a refreshing dip in the crystal clear pools.
