My name is Naomi, and I am a 25-year-old young lady with a love of most things kitchen and a passion for pictures. Home schooled from the ground up, this blog is an attempt at continuing my home education by expanding my knowledge in some of the things I love most, and then sharing of my experiences with you. Yesterday, just for fun, we played the song that I walked down the aisle to at our wedding, “The Wedding Song,” by Matthew Mole. Some of the lyrics are as follows:

Our Father’s spoken

But I see me holding your hand
Heaven made your hand
To compliment my hand
Like heaven made my heart

Heaven gave you love
To compliment my love
So one day we will love
The way that God intended for us

As I think on this Father’s Day, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude for the sweetness of the gift that is James, my husband, and the father of my children. From almost the moment our marriage began, so began the sharpening of our character: health challenges have been ours to navigate from the week of our honeymoon until now. Yet, through it all, the words of that song ring true: “This life we’ve chosen will help us follow Your plan,” and “One day we will love the way that God intended for us.”

A couple of days ago, I watched James run through a local splash pad with our three little ones (while a very pregnant me sat by the sidelines, enjoying every moment). I found myself overwhelmed with joy in observing him play with them, thinking of his sweet character and patient endurance. I am awed that I get to be his; and I am so thankful that he is the father that God has given to our children.

As I think on this father’s day, I think of the wonderful fathers in my life: my dad, my father-in-law, and my husband. But more than all of them, I’m grateful for our Father in heaven who loves us so much and gives us such beautiful gifts. Even when He allows the ones that challenge us (like health struggles), knowing that through such experiences, we grow. And, Lord willing, “One day we will love the way that God intended for us.”

May God grant us all the courage to walk with him, even through hardship, in order that we might discover the joy of walking with Him and knowing the goodness of His plans for us. He is a very good Father. ❤️

As the seasons change, so do the flowers… and the weeds… and yet, my sweet little people still see flowers in the weeds, and gift them to me on the regular.

I want to be like that. When it feels like weeds are choking me out of the garden of my life, may I continue to see the beauty, not just in spite of my pain and frustration, but there in the midst of it.

I pulled a bunch of ugly weeds out today; and I was gifted with some pretty ones. In life, may I continue to cultivate the plants (habits, character) I wish to grow and thrive, and remove the ones that hinder that process… but also, in the act of the work of weeding, I’ll continue to look for the beauty that God has given to be found in the middle of it all.

As a mom of 4 under 3, some days can feel pretty trying. But… little fists full of weeds and chubby cheeks to be kissed remind me that this is a moment to hold on to and be thankful for. There are lots of weeds to pull out of this garden… but oh, so many more flowers to be enjoyed. 🌸 🌱

Last time we attempted potty training ended in toddler tears over not wanting to do it. So, we took a break and picked it up again when the motivation hit. And boy, did it hit! I didn’t know it was physically possible to go potty 29 times in one day, but… now I know. Nothing is impossible for a toddler who gets a truck sticker and a chocolate chip for every successful bathroom break. 😂

About Me

Hi there! I’m Naomi, and it’s a pleasure to meet you!

I’m starting to realize that keeping my “About Me” section of this blog current is a lot harder than I thought. My life in the last few years has been a whirlwind of constant change… and it seems to promise more and more that in the days ahead!

Still, I suppose I’d better start here: On September 28, 2019, I married the sweetest guy around. His name is James, and you can check out this picture of us on our wedding day on my blog. :)

Other noteworthy recent developments, would be that, to our joy and delight, we are expecting our first child in July of 2020!!

Like I said – Lots of changes. But they are beautiful, and we are thankful!

My Background

I am the fifth oldest in a family of 12 (all entrepreneurs in their own way), and a home school graduate. When I was about 12 years old, my family started a chocolate company, which has since evolved into a Baking Company— and soon, a bakery! Through these outlets and the instruction of my oh-so-skilled mother at home, I gained a lot of experience in cooking and baking, and developed my own desire to see it through to new areas.

When I was 16 years old, in keeping with family tradition, I started my own business making wedding cakes, which I have now officially “closed.” I say “closed” because… well, closing can’t stop me from making wedding cakes. I love it too much, so my cake making days are far from over, and I hope this blog will see many more of them in the days to come!

Instead of making wedding cakes, I decided to work at another local bakery and cafe. My time there was an awesome experience working under generous, kind owners. I’m really thankful for them!

Now, in addition to my role as a wife and mother, I have decided to focus my energy a little more on this, my blog, which I’ve kind of tinkered at for years but never given as much attention as I wanted. Blogging for me is a way to tie all of my most keen interests into one platform – Photography, baking, cooking, and writing. I really love it, and I hope it can be a blessing to you!

Other Stuff About Me

I am a lover of little things. The simple things in life are really my favourite: like the sound of the rain falling in the spring, the taste of fresh strawberries in the summer, the smell of bread baking in the fall, and the sight of small children with chubby, rosy cheeks in the winter. Also, I love tea and coffee. Did I mention that? These are daily occurrences, yet they somehow never cease to thrill the socks off of me. I am also beginning to develop a deep love for pedicures while drinking tea or coffee. But I won’t go into that. I love pictures, I love people, and I love fairy tales… But most of all, I love my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
