Tozeur was featured in The English Patient, and of course, its Sahara desert canyon of Ong Jamel (Mos Espa) is a must-see for Star Wars fans.

It is also the place where I tasted camel meat for the first time, and rode in a horse carriage. We had a mini incident when the carriage we rode in fell sideways and we had to clamber out and join the other carriages.

No, it wasn’t because we were too heavy; they blamed it on the “new horse” and coachman!

Unreal seeing these three ksars in various parts of Southern Tunisia (Ksar Hadada, Ksar Ouled Soltane, Ksar Medinine). Ksars were fortified food storage places to protect from raiding parties in previous centuries. Can definitely appreciate that!

Oh, and of course were used in the earlier Star Wars films 😬

LOVED going through it (second video) it’s like an underground maze. A child’s dream of a land of cubbies.

I will never grow up!

No surprise that hidden in the Tunisian desert, this place truly appears as if plucked from a foreign galaxy. It is none other but a Star Wars filming location 𝘢𝘬𝘢 Mos Espa 𝘢𝘬𝘢 desert planet of Tatooine 𝘢𝘬𝘢 homeland to Anakin Skywalker, so the sense cannot be different.

Walking on a movie set, seeing how it's built up and checking what lies behind the facades... It's so interesting to visit filming locations like this and feel transported directly into the story.

Fact 1: Built in 1997 specifically for the production of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) this movie location situated in the Tunisian desert served as the backdrop for the fictional Mos Espa village on Tatooine. The film set not only appeared in Episode I but also made a return in Episode Il-Attack of the Clones (2002) and still stands to this day.

Fact 2: Although it's not my type of genre, Mos Espa has inspired me to broaden my cinematic horizon. So, it's official that I recently finished watching all nine movies of the Star Wars Skywalker Saga.
