So about those grape vines I trimmed… they are for making one of my favourite things: Dolmades! 🇬🇷 My partner took all of the nice leaves off and soaked them, then my kiddo and I made a brine, rolled all of the leaves up, stuffed them into the jar, filled with brine, and now we have lots of gorgeous leaves to pack with fragrant, herb-filled rice and lemon. 😋

Hello, I am the SNAIL. I know I sometimes cause trouble by feeding on your garden plants. But please, don't kill me with poisons that cause suffering and contaminate your garden! Instead, use coffee grounds around your plants. I'll stay away, and you'll nourish the soil since coffee grounds make a great fertilizer.
If you see me stuck to a pot, don't pull me away; my protective covering will break, and I could die. And if you notice small snails following me, please leave them be. They are my delicate offspring with soft, fragile shells. Not many of them survive, but we are essential to the ecosystem and have an ancient history.
Help us survive. 🐌

🍇 Reach for the sky, grapes! My two vines are over 5 -6 ft tall this year, and have 6 branches each. I cut back the vines according to traditional techniques, and we have preserved those leaves for stuffing (photos in another post to come). 😊

💜Foxglove is a biennial with numerous purple spotted flowers in its second year. $2 each!

💜Skullcap is a perennial with a tall stem of purple flowers. $2 each!

🍅 The tomatoes are of mixed varieties- it’s a surprise! Plant them in tall pots or buckets- they’ll get huge! $1 each

I still have plants for sale! LOTS of mugwort, and now Foxglove and Skullcap! All are big, showy, and have lots of flowers. Mugwort has teeny yellow or red flowers (perennial), Foxglove has purple spotted flowers (biennial), and Skullcap has clusters of purple flowers (perennial).

☠️Although Foxglove is common in gardens it is toxic, and therefore I would recommend that it only be purchased by experienced gardeners.

All plants are $4 each.

I am thrilled to announce that in collaboration with I will be hosting a Winnipeg Q***r History Walk! 🗓️ It will be Saturday June 8th at 1 pm and we’ll start the walk at Upper Fort Garry. It’s also free! Come and take photos of the buildings and learn some fascinating history.

✨Explore Winnipeg’s q***r history with local cultural historian Britt Bauer. Britt is a q***r and neurodivergent classics/anthropology PhD student, with a special side interest in historical q***r relationships and meeting places. This walking tour highlights a handful of key locations in Winnipeg’s downtown and Exchange District that have served as safe spaces for sexually and gender diverse people at various points in time.

✨These selected sites are part of a bigger project that highlights 32 q***r meeting places in Winnipeg in an effort to bring more awareness to 2SLGBTQ+ history in Winnipeg (link to full map project in bio).
