The ceremony brought together the first 18 employees of Lufthansa Technik Portugal and institutional representatives, including Ricardo Arroja, AICEP’s President, and Amadeu Soares Albergaria, the Mayor of Santa Maria da Feira.

This facility, dedicated to onboarding and upskilling new staff, is a key milestone in Lufthansa Technik's long-term investment in Portugal, culminating in launching a state-of-the-art aerospace factory by 2027. The plant is expected to generate approximately 700 highly qualified jobs.

AICEP has supported Lufthansa Technik since the project's inception. It has helped secure one of the largest aerospace investments in Portugal and reinforced the country's strategic positioning in advanced manufacturing and MRO capabilities.

💬 "It is a noteworthy milestone for Portugal to welcome a multibillion-euro company, a global leader in its field, held to the highest international business standards. With true joy and a sense of accomplishment, I congratulated the new crew in Portugal, with many more soon aboard, in what will be an elite team for an elite company," said Ricardo Arroja, chairman of AICEP.

"This important step vividly demonstrates the pace and commitment we are advancing this major project. […] This also applies to our partners at AICEP and the city of Santa Maria da Feira, who have welcomed us with open arms and have provided strong support from the very beginning through an intensive process," added Volker Magunna, chairman of Lufthansa Technik Portugal.

The future facility will establish Portugal as a key European aviation maintenance and engineering hub.🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹
