First day in Quito!

We are leaving for Quito this morning. We had a fun few days in Papallacta with MANY spa treatments, good food, a little bit of hiking and some bird watching at 14,000 feet.

We have arrived at Termas Papallacta where we can soak our tired muscles in the thermal waters. We have also booked spa treatments for the next three days! I’m not sure we’ll leave this place…

We just left theCotopaxi region. We got really lucky with the weather in the morning and enjoyed beautiful views of the volcano.

We started our Quilotoa Loop adventure! We have been hiking and visiting local markets. We are staying at the lovely Llullu Llama Lodge in the middle of the Andean mountains. There is a wonderful international hiking community gathering every night over dinner.

Only one day left in France. Time flew by! Tomorrow we’ll spend the day in Versailles and finish our vacation with an evening dinner cruise on the Seine River.

We spent our last night in Lyon at a jazz club. It was the perfect way to end our stay in this fabulous city. The concert took place in the basement of a 16th century building, acoustic and band were phenomenal! We are off to Paris this morning. :)

We’ve spent a wonderful few days in Lyon, eating, drinking, visiting local attractions and we even had a cooking class!

This was a training hike for the Quilotoa Loop 5-day hike this December. In Ecuador we will spend three days at a spa nestled in the Andes to recover from our adventure… Maybe we should practice the spa as well.

This is probably my favorite picture from the Ecuador trip. A few of us walked to a Quechuan village and I took (and gave them) pictures of the kids with my Polaroid camera. They were mesmerized by the picture being printed from the camera!

I am back from Ecuador. We spent our last day at the Otavalo market, shopping and soaking in our surroundings. I am glad to be home but can't wait to be on an international flight again! I have 2 more trips this year (3 weeks France and a hiking trip to Ecuador, both full). Look for some new destinations in 2020 (Switzerland and Dubai)!
