12 People 12 NIGHTS on Safari to Summit the highest Point in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro, then cooling off on a beach in Zanzibar
Join us as we make the greatest safari trip that will see us summit the tallest Peak in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro. The Safari will start from Nairobi, 2 days in Amboseli National Park, hike the Mountain for 7 days and then finish the safari by cooling off in Zanzibar.
The safari is planned courtesy of Safari Chronicles in collaboration with Drongo Safaris Tanzania and Tawi Lodge Amboseli.
Day 1: 12/07/2022;Arrive in Nairobi- Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport(JKIA)Nairobi, you will be transferred to Hilton Garden inn Hotel in Nairobi for a well-deserved rest as you wait to link up with the rest of the group. The next day morning, you will embark on a long trip driving south of Nairobi to Amboseli National Reserve.
Day 2: 13/07/2022; Nairobi –Tawi Lodge Amboseli-After an early morning breakfast, we will drive 120 miles (200km) South of Nairobi to Amboseli National Park. We will arrive for lunch at Tawi lodge- Amboseli, (a magnificent Lodge overlooking the beautiful Mt. Kilimanjaro). After lunch, you will have time to rest, then an evening Game Drive in the Park thereafter.
Day 3: 14/07/2022;Amboseli National Park- An early morning Game Drive at Amboseli National Park, then back to the lodge for lunch, later we will visit a local Maasai Village and a local Community School. A sundowner will then follow before we return to camp for an early dinner. You need to sleep early for preparation of the trip to Tanzania the next day morning.
Day 4: 15/07/2022; Amboseli- Moshi TZ-After an early morning breakfast , the guest will check out and head towards the Tanzanian border, they will clear with customs at the border at Tarakea where their visas will be stamped and thereafter, be received by our colleagues from Drongo Safaris Tanzania for the second part of their trip. After the exchange, the guest will head to Moshi arriving in time for lunch at Park Inn Hotel Moshi TZ. The Guest will be allowed to rest, have a swim or just relax before the next day ascends the Mountain.
Day 5: 16/07/2022; Moshi –Machame Camp-Departing from Park Inn Hotel, Moshi; a 45-minute drive will take you through welcoming mountainside villages to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. We will patiently wait for our permits to be issued; in the meantime we will be receiving a briefing from our guides. Well then start the trek to Machame hut through thick rain forest. We will have packed lunch on the way. We will then have dinner and retire for the day.
Day 6: 17/07/2022; Machame camp – Shira camp (12,470ft/3800m)-Ascend to Shira Hut past the Shira plateau and through ridges and valleys. Stay there overnight.
Day 7: 18/07/2022;Shira camp – Barranco camp (12,960ft/3950m)-Head eastward to a junction where we continue to Lava Tower Campsite (14,760ft/4500m), then descend to Barranco camp thus allowing your body to adjust to altitude change. Take the day’s rest here.
Day 8: 19/07/2022; Barranco camp – Barafu camp (15,090ft/4600m)-Across the Karanga Valley and ascend to Barafu campsite. Have dinner and take the day’s rest ready for the hike to the summit. Note: An extra day for acclimatization can be added by staying overnight at Karanga camp then proceed to Barafu camp the next day.
Day 9: 20/07/2022; Barafu camp-Summit (19,340ft/5895m)-Mweka-Start at mid-night for the Summit (Uhuru peak) arriving at sunrise. Descend back to Barafu for breakfast then further down to Mweka Hut. Have lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing.
Day 10: 21/07/2022; Mweka Camp – Moshi-after Breakfast, descends to the park gate where a vehicle awaits to transfer you to Olerai Lodge in Arusha TZ for Lunch. Guest will have a rest, an early dinner in preparation for a morning flight to Zanzibar the next day
Day 11: 22/07/2022; Arusha –Zanzibar-after an early morning breakfast, guest be transferred to the Arusha International Airport for a flight to Zanzibar arriving for lunch at Baladin Zanzibar Beach Hotel. After lunch the guests can relax, take a swim or have a message at their own convenience. Later the guest will have dinner under the stars and rest for the next day.
Day 12: 23/07/2022; Zanzibar-after a late morning breakfast, guest will set out to explore the Zanzibar Island. Those not willing to go out on a trip of the island can remain in the resort and have a massage or go out on a boat ride. Guests who went out might choose to have lunch outside, they can also explore the culture of Zanzibar and maybe buy curio items to take back home.
Day 13: 23/07/2022; Zanzibar- Dar es Salaam- the guests will be transferred to Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) to book their International flights on wards.
The total cost of this safari is $5,950 All Inclusive!
Included: Transfers including ground transfers and flights; Hotel Accommodation on FB basis, Park Entry Charges and all licenses charges, extra charges for other activities, Covid19 PCR Tests and water and soft drinks also included.
Not include: Alcoholic drinks, International flight, Insurance and entry Visa Charges.
