Dear Telemark friends

As already announced, there will be no Telemark Only Festival in 2024. At the Schilthorn we are too limited by the impressive construction site (schilthornbahn20xx.ch) and another ski area could not be found without competing with an existing Telemark Festival.

We recommend you to participate in one of the other Telemark Festivals in spring 2024:

Dear Telemark friends

We wish you all the best for the new year 2024 and many perfect telemark days in the mountains.

After 7 Telemark Only Festivals, the event will no longer take place on the Schilthorn at the beginning of May 2024. From Monday to Friday, the construction of the new Schilthorn cable car has priority (information at schilthornbahn20xx.ch).

On the weekends in May, the ski area on the Schilthorn will be open to all snow sports fans. We will make special telemark offer for the weekend of 4/5 May 2024 and hope to see many telemark skiers on the Schilthorn.

We are currently looking into an alternative location for the continuation of the "real" Telemark Only Festival on the weekend after Easter, i.e. from Thursday 4 April to Sunday 7 April 2024.

We will keep you informed and hope that you will block both dates.

Liebe Telemark-Freunde

Wir wünschen Euch nur das Beste für das neue Jahr 2024 und viele perfekte Telemarktage in den Bergen.

Nach 7 Telemark Only Festivals wird der Anlass anfangs Mai 2024 so nicht mehr am Schilthorn stattfinden. Von Montag bis Freitag hat der Bau der neuen Schilthornbahn Priorität (Infos unter schilthornbahn20xx.ch).

An den Wochenenden im Mai wird das Skigebiet am Schilthorn für alle Schneeschport-Fans offen sein. Für das Weekend vom 4./5. Mai 2024 werden wir ein spezielles Telemark Angebot machen und hoffen, dass viele Telemärkler auf das Schilthorn kommen werden.

Zurzeit prüfen wir einen alternativen Standort für die Fortsetzung des «echten» Telemark Only Festivals am Wochenende nach Ostern, das heisst vom Donnerstag 4. April bis am Sonntag 7. April 2024.

Wir halten Euch auf dem Laufenden und hoffen, dass Ihr beide Daten reserviert.

Size Matters
I have been telemarking on Race Stock DH skis since 1991. Not as main skis. As a distraction.

So the story goes, the new NTN system comes out, short for New Telemark Norm.

NTN was a deal between Scarpa (Italy) and Rottefella Bindings (Norway) that was years in the making, and required full monetary commitment from both Companies.

At the time, 13 years-ago, the earliest reviews of the system, still in early-ish telemarktips internet world timeframe, were not good. I’m talking one or two guys. Vocal. Negative. Photos.

Scarpa had sent me boots, and Rottefella had sent me bindings. But because of what I read online - the negativity - I let those boxes sit in the hallway for months.

Why should I waste my time if it is a crap system? Ski days are precious.

Finally spring rolls around. I say f**k it. I gotta try.

I figured, in my admittedly strange way of thinking, the Best way to test the new NTN system is to mount the Rottefella FreeRides onto a pair of modern Race Stock Rossignol DH Skis @ 217cms. (223’s being the old standard size for DH skis).

I wasn’t even thinking. From what I read on the internet about NTN, I thought it was gonna be a disaster.

I go up one spring afternoon, after two beers, and I step into the 217’s.

The 3rd turn I was like Holy S**t!!!

This is phenomenal! I was blown-away. Completely.

Internet folk were dissing the Scarpa boots, and the Rottefella bindings. What gives here?

I get to the bottom, and was like wtf are these guys on about?

Three more runs, and I was pi**ed that I left this gear in my hallway for two months…because of bs I read on the internet.

I decided to make a short film about the new NTN Scarpa and Rottefella system. To showcase capabilities that were being naysayed online.

It’s a simple film, no high-speed GS turns on-piste, instead, more real-world kinda freeriding bumps and such. Shot over a couple of days in Chamonix and Verbier.
