Great to see Saas-Fee being recognised for its eco credentials by the Daniel Elkan and Rupert Mellor in the Guardian yesterday 🙌 Sonnenhof-Juliet is something of an eco build too, clad with timber, heavily insulated and run on newable energy it was the first building in Saas-Fee to be connected to their village ground source heat pump. If you can train it to Visp rather than fly or drive you can have a guilt free low carbon trip.

Happy Swiss National Day, a relatively new holiday since 1994. 1st August is celebrated each year with paper lantern parades, bonfires, hanging strings of Swiss flags, and fireworks. I’d like to be there to see that one day. In the mean time here’s some of my photos of the mountains above Saas-Fee.

Children’s / family bedroom / cinema room. The bespoke bed successfully installed thanks to which even has a shelf to put your drink on. Space was in short supply due to the superking base leaving no room for a bedside table, so an integrated drinks shelf became a necessity. I hope children can snuggle up on the bottom bunk to watch a movie after a day of skiing and the superking with bunk over provides great flexible bed space to make sleeping arrangements super easy.

A confection of red and white patterned ceramics to decorate the apartment. What a luxury it is for most of the hard work to be over and to be able to think about these niceties. I’m looking forward to seeing the red and white patterns of and elegance of in their new Swiss home.

It’s official 🙌 Sonnenhof Juliet has been awarded five stars by the Swiss Tourism Association ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ so if you’d like to book a stay you can be confident the apartment meets the strict criteria.

It might not look brilliant at the moment but it’s in!! Aiming for a ski chalet vibe the fireplace seemed to be an important architectural anchor in a living space, a natural focal point and gathering spot in the heart of the home. I think it’s crying out for some lime paint, Sarah Darby Saas-fee snow scenes and some candle sticks. Not long now!! We should be ready for the next ski season !!

A modern take on a Swiss headboard using gingham cushions on a loaf bed. Furnitecture by makes for a single bed sized daybed. Guests can have this made up as a bed or it can be like this for having quite time with a beautiful mountain view.

We had lots of visitors this week and they all loved the apartment. Cooking at home, playing games together and finishing a few of the interior items off has really made it feel like a home.

The branding that all stemmed from the bed head design is coming through on the website well. Branding has a power to elevate your product if you can get it right. I love the authenticity of what we’ve done here depicting local animals in a Swiss style in a design that will feature heavily in the interior. I love the apartment’s location next to this little church. Sonnenhof Juliet benefits from being central whilst also being down a quiet side street next to the chapel. It’s not far to the nearest lift over the gorge and opposite hotel Alpin and we have ski to locker organised for storing up to four guests kit in a heated locker next to the ski school meet area at Cesar Palace. This saves the daily trudge back and forth with your gear which for me personally can be the worst thing about a ski holiday. Photos by

A message to local Saas-Fee businesses. Can you offer any services to my guests. Does anyone do breakfast or traditional hampers? I’m not sure if it’s an English thing so forgive me. In England my guests can choose from array of delectable hampers, cream teas, English breakfast and more. Is it something a local deli in Saas-Fee would like to offer.
