Amazing Sunday, 12th September. Yesterday we hiked 3000 mt (2098 mt actual) to reach Pic d'artisnol. It is a mountain in the Pennine Alps west of Evolène in the canton of Valais, Switzerland.
The Pic d’Artsinol is not really that much of a Pic (in French a Pic is like a needle), it’s more like a large … PIC-NIC spot! It is nearly a 3000 meters altitude summit, missing only 2 meters! We reach it after using a chairlift up to 2100 meters. So the hike is not that long although still classified as an advanced one due to altitude mostly.
We drive up to Lannaz in the Val d’Hérens above Sion, then by chairlift up to Chemeuille, which we come back to for the descent.
Height : 2,998 m
Mountain range : Valais Alps
Summit group : Valais Alps
Walking programme: 4h30 walking time (stops not counted)
Difficulty level: ADVANCED (T3); altitude gain/loss: + 960 m, - 960 m; distance: 11 kms
We started the hike from Chemeuille (2121 m). Chemeuille can be reached easily by chair lift from Lannaz. Nearby village Evolene is just 3 km away from Lannaz and takes approximately 6 min by car. We also had the option to hike from Evolene but we decided to cover some distance/altitude by chair lift from Lanaz to Chemeuille.
