Not quite a once in a lifetime chance but still a pretty rare and awesome opportunity to walk/run/cycle/skate/scooter🚶🏽‍♂️🏃🏻‍♀️🚴🏽‍♀️🛹🛴the Rarotonga International Airport Runway.

Seemed like half the island was there - including the PM (check out his wheels!) having a good old reminiscence about when he used to walk the runway regularly. Not for fun or exercise but as part of his job as a teenager in the 70s🕺🏼🪩🪮when he used to work on the runway lights - good money for back then too he reckons!

That wouldn’t have been that many years after👑Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the international airport in 1974 - which is what this is all about, celebrating🥳the airport’s upcoming 50th anniversary on January 29.

Meitaki Ma’ata to Airport Authority Cook Islands and all their staff for putting on such an amazing community event and dealing with all the logistics required. Same time next year ay? 😉

Whale-watching season 'officially' ended earlier this week, but having driven by this Club Raro Resort sign every day for the past few months we couldn't help but wonder - just what were those dirty old whales getting up to out there?

When you come visit Rarotonga you have to check out Churbros Rarotonga for that sugar fix. Serving something sweet and scrumptious at the Muri Night Market.

And make sure you follow them on their FB or Insta - so you don’t miss out on classic videos like this one. 🤩

We feel like we’ve got the whole place to ourselves.

To us, nothing says 🌺Kia Orana🌺 like the flowers we adorn our family and visitors with when they arrive.

For first-time visitors to our shores, when you’re given an ei (flower garland), it means welcome and we’re so grateful you arrived safely. Each flower is a representation of how happy we are to see you. How much you are loved.

The fragrance fills the air. The beauty of them brings a smile to your face. Kia Orana! ❤️

Looking for something to do on a rainy day in Rarotonga (on a sunny day too actually 🥰)? Visit the Discover Marine and Wildlife Eco Centre Cook Islands, located in Arorangi. There’s plenty to learn and an opportunity to see rescue birds and amazing coconut crabs. The centre rescues all kinds of wildlife from native birds to turtles.
Plus you can get a delicious ice cream, sit on the deck and watch the world pass by.

So good to see more shops at the Punanga Nui Market able to open on Saturday. One of our favourite huts at the market that sells locally made products is Mokoero. Henry & Sharon Tavioni sell their home and handmade products out of this hut. It’s our favourite place to get beautiful pure coconut oil soaps and carved wooden ornaments. You’ll find the perfect gifts to take home for your friends and family at their shop. Make sure to pay them a visit when you come to Rarotonga. 🌴

Kia Orana 🌺 looking for a place to stay on Rarotonga with the family or even extended family? Check out Tuoro Villas. We’ve been to this beautiful property and our kids enjoyed the pool and outdoor area. We loved the setup of the villa, how conveniently laid out it was and the spacious outdoor entertainment area, perfect for lounging by the pool or reading that book you’ve been keen to get into. Go to the website www.cookislandsholidayvillas.com
If you do book Tuoro Villas, please don’t forget to mention that you saw this post on our RaroLife page. 🥰

We went to say ‘Kia Orana’ to this beautiful hawksbill turtle being rehabilitated at Rarotonga’s only salt water pool . Ocean Escape is a brand new resort that is almost ready to open and the kind owners offered to have this beautiful creature in their pool until she’s ready to go back to the ocean 😍🥰🐢 this is why we love our paradise. It’s a real caring community ❤️.

Staycation for us before the kids head back to school next week .rarotonga. Loving how relaxing this place is. It’s very quiet with only locals here but we feel blessed that we’re able to enjoy this amazing space.
I’m sure you’ll be looking forward to booking a stay here soon as you’re able to travel again 🌴🌺🥰
