One of our activities in the Wildlife Safari program is the Ferrier lookout. This trek rewards you with a stunning view of the eastern side of Torres del Paine National Park, featuring the Grey and Pingo Glaciers, Grey Lake and River, Nordenskjold Lake, and Lake Pehoe. If you're lucky, you might spot some woodpeckers and the endangered Huemul deer that inhabit this area. During the summer, this trek is also fascinating for observing the flowers and plants along the trail.

The main character here - the puma 🐾
The area where EcoCamp is located is the best place in the world to find and observe pumas. With that said, it doesn´t mean there is any guarantee of seeing them during your visit. They are not easy to spot, and sometimes, it is about luck whether you see one or not. We always encourage our guests to keep an eye on their surroundings because you might get to see fascinating wildlife, like the puma, the skunk, the eagles, or the armadillos. If you saw a puma during your stay, consider yourself very lucky! Here in Chile, the puma has been protected by law since the 80s, but it is still being hunted illegally due to conflicts with farmers and livestock.

La zona donde se encuentra EcoCamp es el mejor lugar del mundo para encontrar y observar pumas. Dicho esto, no significa que haya garantía de verlos durante tu visita. No son fáciles de avistar y, a veces, depende de la suerte si logras ver uno o no. Siempre alentamos a nuestros huéspedes a mantenerse atentos a su entorno porque podrías observar una fauna fascinante, como el puma, el zorrillo, las águilas o los armadillos. ¡Si viste un puma durante tu estadía, considérate muy afortunado! Aquí en Chile, el puma ha estado protegido por la ley desde los años 80, pero todavía es cazado ilegalmente debido a conflictos con agricultores y ganado.

How is the food at EcoCamp? 🍽️
Dinner at EcoCamp is one of the most praised experiences by our guests, who are often amazed by the presentation—each dish is truly a work of art!

Our menu is inspired by the local cuisine of the Magallanes region, featuring ingredients from Chiloé Island, home to some of the first Chilean settlers in Patagonia.

Every evening, guests choose from three options per course, including vegetarian and vegan dishes. Dinner is accompanied by water, juice, and wine, all served by our attentive waitstaff.

¿Cómo es la comida en EcoCamp? 🍽️
La cena en EcoCamp es una de las experiencias más elogiadas por nuestros huéspedes, quienes a menudo se sorprenden con la presentación: ¡cada plato es verdaderamente una obra de arte!

Nuestro menú está inspirado en la cocina local de la región de Magallanes, con ingredientes provenientes de la Isla de Chiloé, hogar de algunos de los primeros colonos chilenos en la Patagonia.

Cada noche, los huéspedes eligen entre tres opciones por cada platillo, incluyendo alternativas vegetarianas y veganas. La cena se acompaña con agua, jugo y vino, todo servido por nuestro atento personal.

We have the best staff ever 🐾🙏💚🌿🏔️ On the 31st of December, we made an event, so our guests and staff felt that this was a special day - the last day of 2024! Some people are more visible than others, but everybody is important in the big picture to make an adventure hotel run smoothly!

Bird-watching in Torres del Paine and in EcoCamp Patagonia. The park has 126 bird species, representing 28% of Chilean species. Javiera, our assistant guide, is very passioned about birds, and we asked her to share some of her favorite photos of birds in the park:

“My passion for birds began in 2021 when I volunteered at a wildlife rehabilitation center in Chiloé island while attending my second year of university. There, my curiosity and love for birds were born, along with a deep concern for the conservation of fauna and flora. My favorite bird is the Black-throated Huet-huet (Pteroptochos tarnii). Unfortunately, it is not found in TDP National Park but can be spotted in the rest of southern Chile. It means something special to me, as it was the first bird I wanted to identify. ​
​
Birdwatching has brought me countless positive experiences, such as incredible friendships, amazing trips, peace, and mental health benefits. Birds are always an excellent topic for conversation. Working at EcoCamp has allowed me to continue nurturing my passion, learn more about birds, and show guests the biodiversity of this corner of the world. “ ​

Torres del Paine alberga 126 especies de aves, representando el 28% de las especies chilenas. Javiera, nuestra asistente de guía, es una apasionada de las aves y compartió algunas de sus fotos favoritas del parque: ​

“Mi pasión por las aves comenzó en 2021, durante un voluntariado en un centro de rehabilitación de fauna en Chiloé mientras cursaba mi segundo año de universidad. Allí nació mi amor por las aves y mi interés por la conservación de la fauna y flora.
​
Mi ave favorita es el hued hued (Pteroptochos tarnii), que, aunque no está en TDP, sí habita en el sur de Chile. Fue la primera ave que quise identificar, por lo que tiene un significado especial para mí. ​
​
El avistamiento de aves me ha traído amistades, viajes y bienestar mental. Trabajar en EcoCamp me permite seguir aprendiendo sobre aves y compartir la biodiversidad de este rincón del mundo con nuestros pasajeros.”

Grey Glacier boat ride ❄️
One of the activities we have in our Wildlife Safari program is Tuesdays and Fridays. It is a perfect option for those who want to do something more relaxed and still enjoy the landscapes. The boat ride is approximately 2,5 hours, and the drive towards Grey Lake is filled with beautiful views of the Paine Massif.

Navegación al Glaciar Grey ❄️
Una de las actividades que ofrecemos en nuestro programa Wildlife Safari está disponible los martes y viernes. Es una opción perfecta para quienes buscan algo más relajado pero quieren seguir disfrutando de los paisajes. La navegación dura aproximadamente 2,5 horas, y el trayecto hacia el Lago Grey está lleno de impresionantes vistas del Macizo del Paine.

Would you like to hike the base of the towers, the most iconic trek inside the national park, Torres del Paine? EcoCamp Patagonia is located almost where the trail starts, so we hike from the hotel, when we do this day-trip.

For who is it? Technically, it is not a difficult hike (you do not need harness or tecnical climbing skills), but it is physically demanding hike of 8-10 hours. There are some big steps to take, and a good balance is required. Going down, is often the hardest part, so if you have any knee or hip issues, we recommend you to considerate this trek twice. If you think you can do it, this hike is an amazing challenge! This trek is part of our Wildlife Safari program + our W and Paine Circuit programs.

¿Te gustaría caminar hasta el Base Torres, el trekking más icónico dentro del Parque Nacional Torres del Paine? EcoCamp Patagonia está ubicado casi en el inicio del sendero, por lo que cuando hacemos esta excursión de un día, partimos directamente desde el hotel.

¿Para quién es?
Técnicamente, no es una caminata difícil (no necesitas arnés ni habilidades técnicas de escalada), pero sí es físicamente exigente, con una duración de 8-10 horas. Hay algunos escalones grandes que superar y se requiere un buen equilibrio. Bajar suele ser la parte más difícil, por lo que si tienes problemas de rodillas o caderas, te recomendamos considerar esta caminata cuidadosamente. Si crees que puedes hacerlo, ¡este trekking es un desafío increíble!

Eco Bar 🍹A place to enjoy post-adventure 🥾
Every day, from 3 pm, our bar is open. We have a variety of cocktails, mocktails (without alcohol), spirits, wine and beers. Ask our amazing and skilled bartenders for the menu with all the options!

From 7 pm, we serve our guests a free welcome drink with or without alcohol, and appetizers to enjoy before dinner. From 7 pm, is also when the bar and common areas are the most busy, because this is when the different groups meet up with their guides to receive a briefing about the following day´s activities.

During dinner, we serve 3 different wines, all organic and - of course - chilean! Different kind of juice is available as well for those who prefer non-alcoholic.

Eco Bar 🍹Un lugar para disfrutar después de la aventura 🥾
Todos los días, desde las 3 pm, nuestro bar está abierto. Ofrecemos una variedad de cócteles, mocktails (sin alcohol), licores, vinos y cervezas. ¡Pregunta a nuestros increíbles y expertos bartenders por el menú con todas las opciones!

A partir de las 7 pm, servimos a nuestros huéspedes un cóctel de bienvenida gratuito, con o sin alcohol, acompañado de aperitivos para disfrutar antes de la cena. Desde las 7 pm, el bar y las áreas comunes están más concurridos, ya que es el momento en que los diferentes grupos se reúnen con sus guías para recibir la charla informativa sobre las actividades del día siguiente.

Durante la cena, servimos 3 tipos de vinos diferentes, todos orgánicos y, por supuesto, ¡chilenos! También ofrecemos distintos tipos de jugos para quienes prefieren opciones sin alcohol.

Lazo-Weber trek - one of the least crowded day treks you can do inside the national park, Torres del Paine. Why is that, you might ask? Because no public transportation goes there, and it is a single-way trek that requires a car to leave you in spot A and pick you up at spot B. We offer this hike as part of our Wildlife Safari program.

We are entering the baby season in the animal kingdom here in Patagonia 🤩 Let us present to you, the chulengo, the name of a young guanaco. They are born after a gestation period of about 11 months. Chulengos nurse from their mothers for several months. They start grazing on solid food around 2 to 3 months but continue to rely on their mother's milk until they are about 6 to 8 months old. To see them play around with the other young chulengos and imitate the adult guanacos is always joyful.

Estamos entrando en la temporada de bebés en el reino animal aquí en Patagonia 🤩 Déjenos presentarles al chulengo, el nombre de un joven guanaco. Nacen después de un período de gestación de aproximadamente 11 meses. Los chulengos maman de sus madres durante varios meses. Comienzan a pastar alimento sólido alrededor de los 2 a 3 meses, pero continúan dependiendo de la leche materna hasta que tienen aproximadamente de 6 a 8 meses. Verlos jugar con los otros chulengos y imitar a los guanacos adultos siempre es un motivo de alegría.
