Many nomads can be found herding their yak and sheep in the north parts which consist mostly high elevation grasslands above 4000m(13,120ft).

egion,in the north is Qinghai's Yushu,the southernmost part is Sichuan Mali and Yunnan's Dechen. The eastern areas are between 2500m and 3500m(8200ft and 11480ft) are covered in thick green forests. Snow capped mountains are found throughout Kham. The region of Kham was traditionally known as "Chuzi Gangdruk" which when translated means "The 4 Rivers and 6 Ranges".
