Are We Open?

I know many of you are anxiously awaiting this flying season. Too much time for us all on the ground and locked away on quarantine makes it worse.

The good news is, YES, we will be open starting the 3rd week in January and I look forward to seeing everyone again!

To help better accommodate our guests and guarantee everyone’s health we are changing our cleaning schedule from biweekly to daily and we will not be allowing anyone with a fever of persistent cough to stay with us. I apologize for the inconvenience but this is to ensure the safety and health of all our guests.

To my pilot friends.

This pandemic has affected everyone greatly and now with the social unrest that many countries face, the future is even more uncertain.

Even here in paradise we are affected. Quarantine allows us to leave twice a week for supplies but most cannot work. There is a plan to open up completely by September 1st but for many of my friends, the local tandem pilots, work from tourism will not come soon enough and supporting a family becomes impossible.

I have reached out to a friend of mine with an idea of how together we can help.

If you can donate $25 it will provide basic food for a family of 3 for a week; nothing extravagant just the basics. They still will not have money for rent or electric but going to bed with a full stomach will mean so much; no child deserves to go to bed hungry.

At the time of writing this a friend has already donated $500 to help 3 families with children for the next 6 weeks!

This is such a tremendous blessing for them and because of him and the help he has given I am asking you to help as well.

We have a few more local pilots that could use your help but we have many more in Colombia in the same situation.

If you feel it in your heart to help out a fellow pilot and his family please do.

You can donate anonymously or I can send you pictures of the food we bought (with pictures of the receipt) so you can see who and how you are helping.

We are all one family sharing this world together.

Thank you all for visiting this last season!

It is always refreshing and entertaining having many different customs and languages under one roof; brought together by our mutual love, Paragliding.

The tourist season is over and everyone is back home waiting for it to warm up just a little more to fly your local sites, finally!

Enter the coronavirus and things get more difficult and complicated. Some countries have banned paragliding and others like here in Colombia, have put us on mandatory quarantine; I’m leaving my house once a week at most for supplies.

I have read many post about pilots flying and other pilots responding negatively to them flying.

If it’s legal in your country should you fly or should you stay home?

Gavin has put together a podcast specifically for you! It is free and I know you have the time to listen to it; we all do.

Paragliding is a managed risk sport and we all are responsible for managing our own risk. We understand the risk better with knowledge so please understand clearly the increased risk of flying now before you fly.

This last season the flying was epic and the parties well, they wouldn’t be the same without you. I hope to see each and every one of you again next year; be smart and stay safe!

Offering Guided Paragliding Tours in Colombia to Piedechinche, Roldanillo, Apia and Jerico.

From the time you land at the airport until you return home we have you covered with hotels, local information, detailed site information as well as retrieval from the LZ or XC flights.

WHATS INCLUDED

We will be waiting for you when you exit the airport and together we will go to the destination site where your Hotel will be waiting.

When you are ready to fly we will go up to the Takeoff with you and give you a thorough site briefing; showing you Airspaces, LZ’s, House Thermals and Areas of Concern.

After we are synced on radio and you takeoff we will be on call for retrieves; landing in the official LZ or going XC; once we receive your location we’ll be there with a cold drink ready.

When you have flown until you can fly no more we will show you your options for Restaurants and Bars before we retire for the night.

When the week is over and you cannot stop smiling, we will take you back to the airport so you can make your flight home on time.

As everyone has different tastes in food the tour price does not include lunch or dinner; a traditional Colombian breakfast is included at the hotel.

The tour includes 6 nights at the destination site where we have made reservations. If you decide to stay at another location the hotel is not included.

In the unfortunate event there is an accident we will do our best to quickly contact the appropriate Rescue/Medical personnel but we, Gryphus Paragliding Tours, are not responsible legally or financially and can only do our best to facilitate smooth communication and the best medical treatment in the area. Please have international insurance valid in Colombia.

ABOUT ME

I started Paragliding in 2016 and my life changed forever. I spent a year flying all over the US only to be pushed south by the cold weather. While overwintering and flying in Florida I made my first trip to Colombia and instantly fell in love with the people, climate and flying. I have only left to visit friends and family and since 2017 I am proud to call Colombia my home. I have lived at all the Sites I offer on my Tour so I know the Takeoffs, Landings as well as an intimate knowledge of the area and the people. I am the local.
