If you have never been to Limon, Costa Rica to celebrate The Day of the Black Person and Afro-Costa Rican Culture (Dia de la Persona Negra) you need to come and experience the culture of the Black people of Limon.
The Black Ethnic Cultural Civic Committee was born in 1999 thanks to the vision of a group of people from Limón concerned about the loss of values and cultural elements of black culture.
August has been declared the Historical Month of Afro-descendants in Costa Rica. This celebration responds to the need to recognize the great contribution of Afro-Costa Rican culture to the country on an equal basis with the other contributions that other ethnic groups in Costa Rica have made. Date of parade: August 31 although celebrations are happening during the entire week. Come and join us!
