Did you know:
Costa Rica is one of the largest coffee producers in Latin AmerIca.
Coffee was brought to Costa Rica from Cuba in the 1700's; no one knows by whom.
Costa Rica grows Arabica beans requiring high altitudes and warm temperatures.
The 8 different growing regions provide these conditions plus rich volcanic soil.
Coffee beans are harvested by hand!

Did you know that Casa Sirena reforests the beach? We replant palm seedlings into tires that wash up on the beach so it's a win-win. Doesn't it just remind you of the east coast beaches you visited growing up? It's actually a great little starter home for them and they grow fast.
This lovely shaded area is the cliff above the beach and it's perfect for being on the beach but out of the sun. We set up chairs and tables, picnic blankets, hammocks and games here. It's just across the road from the house and makes the perfect front yard for outside activities. Think: reading, napping, playtime, alone time, and that's just for starters! Plus it's really easy to flag down the fresh ceviche seller riding by on a bicycle with a cooler full and then have our on-the-ball house manager bring a cold beverage...

Do you enjoy cooking on vacation because you finally have the time? Because emily is a chef herself, she has made sure that Casa Sirena has a fully equipped kitchen with cookware, appliances, and plenty of room for prepping.
The fruit here is fresh and fantastic- bananas, mango, melon- the most juicy and flavorful you've ever tasted. Your bar is sure to be lifted when you bite into a wedge of Costa Rican pineapple!
If you do not wish to cook while on vacation, Casa Sirena's caretaker would love to prepare local specialties for you to enjoy! Ask for a menu when booking.

Did you know that Esterillos Oeste beach has it's own bronze mermaid representing the beauty and magic of the sea? This graceful guardian is positioned on a rocky outcrop between two tide pools filled with small fish and seashells. A gentle, shallow place to swim and snorkel it is roughly a 20 minute walk down the beach from Casa Sirena. You might even get lucky and find a fossil tucked into a stone pocket.
