She is Baaaaaaaackkkkkk!!!!!! After a revolutionary health journey is returning to Costa Rica for our retreat to teach and receive! Alongside Kim, Erica is an OG a pivotal part of the Wild Essence world since 2013! Erica is an incredible artist, guide and human and it’s a gift to once again list her name on our schedule for the Costa Rica retreat in February!

Erica-Ashdyn is a Creativity Enchantress that translates the world through diverse, artistic lenses of Expressionism. She guides others to unlock their creativity, rooted through the imagination of their inner child, and celebrate their inventive levels of wonderment. With over 20 years of creative self-study, 12 of those years implementing creativity within trauma informed residential programs, Art education, and Art Therapy Certification, she has nested in Niantic as a full time Artist. Kim is an earth artist and a lover of both dirt and sky. An avid birder, forager, gardener, photographer and insect enthusiast, she embraces the natural world around her with gusto and deep reverence. She has been supporting individuals with mental illness, developmental, and physical disabilities for over twenty years and has been a student of Wild Essence for over ten years. She is a strong advocate for the unsupported and underserved, has a knack for blossoming one’s appreciation for the microcosm of the world, and loves sunrise bird walks with friends.

The work I get to do in the world is WILD.

I get to support the process of expanding the capacity of aliveness, and wholeness humans feel in their lives.

Kind of outrageous.

Every more so - I get to do this while bringing all of myself to the table in raw, human form, with all my flaws and fears and imperfections.

I just spent a week in the jungle with some of the most powerful people I’ve met in this lifetime….

Breathing, moving, sensing, sharing, dancing, singing, cooking, creating, all while respecting each others unique expression moment by moment and honoring our own and the needs around us.

What a dream world….

Though I know that the rest of society may never see glimpses of the fullness I’ve known in my time here on earth, I keep the fires burning because I genuinely believe that someday - the ripple of what we are doing here will make its way to headquarters and begin to rewrite the story of what it means to exist as humans of this planet.

Whether I ever see it stretch to all the places I hope it does with these eyes, having felt it in my cells - and dreaming of a wilder world for those to come is enough for me.

Thank you to every person who has been a part of the story that led me here.

“The wild is an integral part of who we are as children. Without pausing to consider what or where or how, we gather herbs and flowers, old apples and rose hips, shiny pebbles and dead spiders, poems, tears and raindrops, putting each treasured thing into the cauldron of our souls.

We stir our bucket of mud as if it were, every one, a bucket of chocolate cake to be mixed for the baking. Little witches, hag children, we dance our wildness, not afraid of not knowing.

But there comes a time when the kiss of acceptance is delayed until the mud is washed from our knees, the chocolate from our faces. Putting down our wooden spoon with a new uncertainty, setting aside our magical wand, we learn another system of values based on familiarity, on avoiding threat and rejection. We are told it is all in the nature of growing up. But it isn't so.

Walking forward and facing the shadows, stumbling on fears like litter in the alleyways of our minds, we can find the confidence again. We can let go of the clutter of our creative stagnation, abandoning the chaos of misplaced and outdated assumptions that have been our protection. Then beyond the half light and shadows, we can slip into the dark and find ourselves in a world where horizons stretch forever. Once more we can acknowledge a reality that is unlimited finding our true self, a wild spirit, free and eager to explore the extent of our potential, free to dance like fireflies, free to be the drum, free to love absolutely with every cell of our being, or lie in the grass watching stars and bats and dreams wander by.

We can live inspired, stirring the darkness of the cauldron within our souls, the source, the womb temple of our true creativity, brilliant, untamed”

Amidst my final training, with my final group of apprentices approaching graduation I am introspective and curious about all that is to come.

I’ve lived the last 2.5 years in Caribbean, Costa Rica in a small town called Puerto Viejo on the coastline with my fiancée Jahman Brown Ruiz

In 2022 and 2023 we hosted a MONTH LONG wellness retreat experience full of yoga, dance, meditation, breath work, art classes, ceremony, herbalism, soma-care etc.
