12 mosquito bites for 1 armadillo = totally worth it.
Especially on this first of January 😊
Happy New Year to all of you ✨

Who said sloths were slow? Apparently, this one had just had its morning coffee 🙃
If you want to spot sloths in their natural habitat, Geckoes Lodge might very well be your best option on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica!
Just another lazy day at #geckoesgarden.

Mum and baby José at Geckoes Lodge
We have a first!
November 9 2022, 8.20am: a baby sloth is born at Geckoes Lodge. High up in a tree, it happened in the blink of an eye. No more than minutes later, mum is happily eating, one arm holding on to the branch, one leg holding on to the baby, who is surprisingly fast and acrobatic for a newborn.
We named the little one José, after our gardener who discovered them. No pictures or videos of the birth, as José was too impressed to think of filming this intimate moment :-) But we can gladly share some images of their first minutes together.
(We were obviously too thrilled for a steady hand, so sorry for the wobbly filming.)
