Our Story
Dante’s Water Sports is a tour company based in the beautiful Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. All lessons include round-trip transportation in a comfortable, new, air-conditioned 12-person-van driven by the owner, Dante from and to the guest's hotel or private residence in Manuel Antonio or Quepos, chairs and umbrellas at the beach, refreshments (water, coconut water, and fresh fruit), rash guard, and a trained and experienced bilingual (English and Spanish) surfing instructor (2-3 people maximum/instructor, with young children having their own). A safety talk of approximately 20 minutes (in order to properly prepare guests for the tour) is given before before the guests eneter the water. Photos capturing you having a blast during your tour in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica are an extra service we offer.
The standard surf lesson price is US$65/person (paid in cash or by Visa/MasterCard), and the lesson lasts 3 hours, preferably beginning a few hours before high tide. All experience levels and ages are welcome to take part in the lessons. Reservations made in advance are highly recommended for the best experience. Dante’s Water Sports is a fully insured company.
The complete experience called Fun at the Beach includes all of the above and also access to our paddle boards, body boards and also a delicious Costa Rican lunch served to you directly at the beach. You are free to combine and mix your favorite activities as you wish, making this the perfect tour for the entire family. Available all days of the week, from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. noon., at US$75/person. Our special Beach Hopping Experience trip takes you to explore "the Real Costa Rica": the beautiful and secluded Matapalo, (30 minutes south of Manuel Antonio), and includes all of the above plus a fun waterfall visit where you can swim and play; US$75/person (for a minimum of four people), full day from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The paddle boarding, including snorkeling and yoga for 3 hours is US$65/person. Your choice of which beach (with a stop at the little paradise, Biesanz beach) or Damas Island mangroves, or a combination of the two! Available morning (7:30 a.m.) and afternoon (2:30 p.m.). For all levels and durations, we also rent out surfboards at US$15-25/day (price depending on the size/quality of board), body boards at US$15/day, paddle boards at US$20/hour, and kayaks at US$20/hour
The owner and manager, Dante Herrera, is very involved in the local community, in organizations like Copaza (a cooperation to help local children), as a coordinator for the local Blue Flag Ecological Program (to protect the quality of our beaches), leading reforestation efforts, and much more. Dante's Water Sports operates as a 100% drug- and alcohol-free business (Dante himself is an active member within the local community of prevention and treatment of substance abuse programs), with a zero tolerance policy for all employees, and does not permit any of its workers to be under the influence of any kind of drugs and/or alcohol while at work (and preferably not in private either). This is an important reason, amongst many, behind why so many of the major hotels, private homes, and tourist agencies in the Manuel Antonio area and beyond have chosen to work with Dante's Water Sports and continue to trust us with their clients, both adults and children of all ages.
