Travel Like A Local

Travel Like A Local THINK TAILOR MADE! Tired of vacationing at a resort that does not allow you to REALLY experience ano

Our company began thanks to my friends from all over the world coming to visit me since I was their hostess. I moved down here from California for college in 1994 and fell in love with the country. My friends began to send me their own friends, co-workers, family, etc. and before I knew it, I was becoming a tour guide without even realizing how much fun we were all having. After months of trying t

o convince me to make it my full time job, I quit my day job and began to book exclusive and personal trips for adventurous travelers worldwide. The advantage we offer is that I am a local, thanks to my Costa Rican mom. I've been exploring this country since I was a kid and I love sharing this world! We book everything for you so you get the "tico" price and not the ridiculous prices other tour operators offer. We travel with you so no one tries to take advantage of you and speak Spanish for you when you need help! Riding with us in our personal 4x4 vehicle saves you a lot of money in renting a car (unless your group is bigger than our capacity in which we will arrange other options). But the best part of it all is you ride and see all the local spots, from secret beaches to hidden waterfalls to safe road trips with experienced drivers! We steer clear of tourist traps and give you a REAL Costa Rica experience.

This is a good one fellow travelers! We highly recommend this amazing sustainable boutique hotel nestled inside the Monteverde Cloud Forest providing you with so many different activities like hiking, fine dining on treetops, picking your ingredients for the “farm to table” experience, sipping on one of a kind cocktails and local craft beer brewed on site, practice yoga, enjoy spa services and birdwatch all day long. We spotted so much wild life and everyone on staff was so attentive. They also have a delicious juice bar and a small souvenir shop helping local artists. Oh did we tell you about their zen pond and small private waterfalls we found exploring?

“Visitors can arrive in Costa Rica via a flight, sailboat or yacht. Costa Rica does not require a negative coronavirus test, but travel insurance is necessary.
Here are are the requirements to fly into Costa Rica on a commercial flight as a tourist as of November 1:

1) Fill out the electronic epidemiological HEALTH PASS form, available at https://salud.go.cr. This should be completed in the 48 hours before arrival in Costa Rica.
2) Purchase Traveler’s Medical Insurance: This can be from an international company, or purchased through the National Insurance Institute (INS) or Sagicor of Costa Rica, covering the duration of your stay in Costa Rica.”

As of Sunday, November 1, tourists from anywhere in the world can visit Costa Rica.

“Visitors to Costa Rica must purchase travel medical insurance and complete the Health Pass epidemiological form. The insurance must be either a policy from INS or Sagicor — both Costa Rican companies — or a foreign policy that covers COVID-19 medical expenses and extended lodging.”

Beginning November 1, Costa Rica will open its airports to tourists from all countries and U.S. states.

We all love those sneaky raccoons and coatis trying to steal our food but they are dying because they don’t eat processed snacks and junk food! Please DO NOT FEED OUR WILDLIFE! It is illegal and we want them healthy and alive not sick and dead. This includes EVERY ANIMAL living in their natural habitats where they belong. Yes, that means monkeys, birds and sloths too. If you see someone breaking the law, you can report them just like we did in Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio where the capuchin monkeys are now violent and scary because they are fed chips, chocolates, cookies and junk that alters their time natural diet 😞

The more you know 🙂

“One of the best ways to learn about the culture, traditions, art, and way of life of the indigenous tribes of Costa Rica is by visiting one of the reserves and taking a tour through the community. This is one of the ways that some of the tribes earn an income as well as have the opportunity to share their traditions that they have worked so hard for hundreds of years to preserve.

From the fascinating history of Costa Rica, learn about some of the its indigenous tribes through this brief introduction.

Did you know that unlike many other cats, jaguars do not avoid water; in fact, they are quite good swimmers. Rivers provide prey in the form of fish, turtles, or caimans—small, croc like animals. Jaguars also eat larger animals such as deer, peccaries, capybaras, and tapirs. They sometimes climb trees to prepare an ambush, killing their prey with one powerful bite.

We have seen these gorgeous felines hanging out in Tortuguero for example, hunting and planning their next sly move.

Do you know what the locals call watering holes near the mountains and rainforest?

It is a normal family outing to see locals travel to rivers where you can jump into what they call “pozas” enjoying nature and crystal clear water surrounded by beautiful waterfalls found along the way 🙂

“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.” Robert Frost 💗
